Husband had to have his SS card changed, it was a shorten version of his name and it cause a lot of problems when he went to get disability from SS as all of his identification was in his full name. We got all the forms filled out and had a new card in a week.
File for S/S under both names, if as usual the Government will mess up, and you will get 2 S/S Checks. That will teach them to fool around with you.
