U.S. Army 1968 - 1971. :-)
US Navy, 1961 - 1981
U S N 1962 - 1966
I was a member of a Marine Detachment aboard Navy ships for my first tour. Which leads to a funny story.
In damn near every port there was at least one soviet-paid local who would buy servicemen drinks and try to get them to talk about their jobs. I got totally wasted on their dime, while feeding them total bull---t. Once I told one of these idiots that I was the ships hangman! He ate it up and bought me more drinks.
I wonder what his paymaster had to say when he made his report. :)
US Navy: 1974-1988, ARNG: 1997-present.
I didn't mean to hijack your thread.
BTW, USAF 1983-1991.
I got my certificate shortly after they were authorized....it's hanging proudly in my office!
OK since everyone is putting in their time I will also; mine was as a DoD civilian l969 till l991; now DoJ civilian l991 till August 1, 2005!!!! and I'm more than ready to hang it up! Congratulations and much admiration to all on here that served our great country! God bless America!
Thanks for that link; never heard of it before...
Don't know, but I think so...
I remember when this was announced, and maybe I should apply now. I didn't back then because I didn't wish to have a crap weasel signature of William Cohen (or was it William J. Perry?) hanging ANYWHERE on a wall of mine.
Donald Rumsfeld's signature might have a similar effect on visiting liberals and that would be cool. ;)
United States Air Force, Nov 1972 - Aug 1993
That's a good one. I fairly-regularly throw it in the face of lefties.
The detailed spreadsheet *.gif that's in a link on that page, is pretty amazing.
Gun Room? I love it!
You are quite welcome
Gotta love a woman that'll let you have a gun room.
I am USMC 1979-1985 [first tour]
I filed for my cret. but never recieved it! I am still upset about it too.
I forgot about adding my second tour.
June 1995-July 1999 also USMC.
I was a desert rat. I was stationed in 29 Palms CA [read as the STUMPS!!] and Yuma AZ at Marine Corps Air Station. [baked spud, crash, fire, rescue]
me either ...; but more than a few folks these days scratch their heads and say 'huh?, what was the 'cold war'?
The fact that out of all official gov't recogition for all kinds of conflicts, all that is out there is this certificate, for a decades long bona fide war, it just seemed to me to be .... not appropriate.
And of course, given the make up of so many of the liberal democrats, I started to have suspicions that maybe it was not totally an accident that so little noise is made about this...; (given MY make-up, I guess it is not an accident I bother to pay attention ... but sub service can mess with your sleep and coffee habits :) )
