Support group has helped gay teens for past 12 years

For the past 12 years, a support group called Pride Youth has helped teenagers in the suburbs deal with the pressures of being openly gay.

The program, established in 1993, is part of Northfield-based LINKS North Shore Youth Health Service, a community health service for young adults.

Support groups meet weekly in Northfield and Palatine, where teens who are gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender or questioning their sexuality can talk to others.

There are about 15 other support groups like Pride Youth for teens in the area -the majority in Chicago. Most of the teens who participate in Pride Youth live in suburban Cook, Lake and DuPage counties.

"It's really impressive how much there is here," said Hilary Marsh, spokeswoman for the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network in Chicago. "I know for a fact that these groups are really important to the youth who participate in them."

Marsh said many openly gay youth experience difficulty at home or in school, and they need this type of group support.

Island Lake 17-year-old Matthew Hutchinson said he was uncomfortable discussing his sexuality with anyone other than his family before he attended one of the Pride Youth meetings last summer.

"I barely knew any gay teens in the area before," said Hutchinson, a senior at Wauconda High School.

The two youth centers are operated for teens, 13 to 18 years old. About 30 teens visit both locations each week. Last year, 164 teens made 1,285 visits to the two centers, said Pride Youth director Erschel De Leon.

De Leon said although she thinks the level of homophobia has decreased over the years, there are still many teens who face intolerance from family and peers.

"Constant homophobic remarks in the hallways of schools, at the mall and other places that teens congregate is a reminder to these youth that they are not accepted," said De Leon, who has led the group since 2001.

She said Pride Youth provides a safe place where these kids can meet others who are like them.

"Most are not completely out at school or may be the only out student in the school," she said.

"For most youth, coming to Pride is a much needed break from the stress of school, work, and college applications," De Leon said. "This allows for candid and honest conversation about the coming-out process, dealing with family and friends ... and coping with homophobia."

Teen meetings are 6 to 9 p.m. twice a week. On Wednesdays, meetings are at the Northfield Youth Center at 1779 Maple St. Thursday night meetings are at Countryside Unitarian Church in Palatine, 1025 N. Smith Road.

Trolling for fresh young meat and gay indoctrination centers for children are a key part of the queer/NAMBLA agenda. Taxpayer funded support for these pedophile dating services are another goal of the gay mafia.

Group pushes homosexuality acceptance for toddlers

A Redmond, Washington, organization of day care professionals has begun to advocate the normalization of the homosexual lifestyle to pre-school children in day care. The Childcare Exchange has two articles on its website exploring the possible methods to teach very small children to accept and practice homosexual behavior and cross-dressing.

One article, "Healthy Sexuality Development in Young Children," recommends allowing boys and girls to wear opposite sex clothing in "dramatic play centers," and "stories will be read that include a variety of family configurations." The authors recommend teaching day care children about masturbation saying, "Children who masturbate will be guided to understand that this is personal behavior and is appropriate for private time but not group time...."

In another article, "Developing Sexual Identity Through Play, Acceptance, Curiosity, and Tolerance," author Lynn Baynum describes a defining moment in her son's development when she told him that "today we use the word 'gay' to describe two adults of the same sex living together as a family."

George A. Rekers, Ph.D., research director for child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, writes in his article on childhood Gender Identity Disorder, that children are vulnerable to confusion in the development of their sexual identity. He writes of a certain "trend for certain vocal elements in education and the media in American culture to sharply question the legitimacy of many, if not all, sex role distinctions in the socialization of children."

What ever happened to the "good old days" when EVERYONE -- not -- just the gays kept their SEX lives to themselves?

And, of course, anyone questioning their sexuality will immediately be indoctrinated so the gay agenda can continue through them.

There's a reason why GLBTs have troubles with their "orientation". Because it isn't natural. It's artificial, and it's sickening how we can ignore teens' calls for help and instead lead them further into an unhealthy and most likely unhappy life.

Homosexual Agenda Ping.

How about clubs for normal kids to give them confidence and strength to stand up to homosexual indoctrination?

Oh, and who are the adults who "counsel" all these kids? Any instances of molesting/seduction or so-called consensual sex with any of these teenagers?

Anyone wonder how these counselors counsel the "questioning" teenagers?

Who funds this crap? (Just checked back with the article - if it's a community center, probably YOUR tax money.)

Let me and DirtyHarryY2K know if anyone wants on/off this pinglist.
