I'm on my 8th year with a Traeger wood pellet furnace. Dual hot water loop +domestic HW preheat. Runs 75K-135K BTUs. I guess it will burn dry corn also, but never tried it.

The beauty in NY is that there is no tax on wood products for fuel. Heat costs run between $12 and $20 a day, and I only run it when it's colder than 30F. We had one "5 Bag" day when it was -25F. Whole house heat + all domestic HW, sure beats oil and electricity costs.

xcamel, how big is your house? A 40 lb. bag of pellets will last us 36 hours, unless it's really cold.
Then we turn the stove up to the next notch, it will last about 20-24. Our house is about 1800 sq. ft.

I got a Whitfield, had it since 91, the free standing floor model.

About a bag a day during the winter, if the temp gets down to the teens, maybe a bag and a half, 18 hundred sf house.

I love that stove. Totally dependable. Clean it about once every 5 days or so.

$12 to $20 a day? Damn that would be about 6 times my heating fuel costs, even in the coldest winter.
