He served his time but now a convicted California murderer is in trouble here in KELOLAND. Sioux Falls Police arrested Jose Carlos Ventura Friday night for allegedly attacking a close relative earlier last week. But that's not the only thing he's wanted for.
Ventura was just a teenager when he was convicted of second degree murder with a firearm in California. Now he's 27 and was released from a California Prison this past November. That's when he fled to live with his mother and two sisters in Sioux Falls.
The same month Ventura finished serving his 10-year sentence, he skipped on parole and headed to KELOLAND. But the law didn't catch up to him until January 22nd. That's when a 17 year old "relative" told police he beat her up.
Lt. Dan Kaiser with the Sioux Falls Police says, "At that time, the detectives ran a criminal history check on the suspect and found that he was wanted in California on a parole violation."
Sioux Falls police found Ventura Friday night at the "Tally Ho" apartments. They called in the SWAT team as a precaution.
Kaiser says, "When detectives spoke with the authorities in California, they learned that he was to be considered a violent criminal. So there was concern for that."
After 30 minutes, Ventura was coaxed out of the building. He didn't fight arrest and wasn't armed. Now that Ventura's in custody, there are questions regarding his future.
Kaiser says, "He's also an illegal alien, so there's also a hold for immigration on him at this point."
As for whether Ventura will be deported from Sioux Falls, that's up in the air. Kaiser says, "I would guess it's going to come between California with their probation and immigration to see if they're just going to deport him or if they'll send him back to California."
For now, Ventura will remain in the Minnehaha County Jail. He's being held on a 150-thousand dollar cash bond for the extradition to California and a 2-thousand dollar cash bond on the simple assault charge.

If only the state of Kalifornia could be found as an accomplice to what this ILLEGAL has done since Kalifornia released him.

Assuminmg your qerry is not rethorical and uttered out of frustration the answer is: "Someone has to tell.".
As you know well Schwarzenegger has repeatedly vowed: "No one will be deported!". Schwarzenegger has been aggressive when asking Bush for reimbursement for the cost of incarcerating illegal aliens on federal offenses but he has forbidden the California State Department of Corrections to notify the Department of Homeland Security when an illegal alien is to be released from a California prison.
Don't put the full blame on Schwarzenegger however. I'm not so sure Bush wants to know. Bush apparently would rather the parolee be reunited with his family in the US even if the family is granted an official form of immigration.
This is a simple case of fraud.
The citizens of California pay taxes to be protected from immigrants like this.
The state does not deliver the services paid for.
This is dereliction of duty.
Let's put the RICO act into play. It was designed expressly for state racketeering like this. Now that we've made an example on the private side (Martha Stewart), let's make an example on the government side. Where is the accountability?
