With all the hubbub, I thought it would be interesting to read what the idiot actually had to say.
I posted it because, as I explained, I'd not seen it posted elsewhere on Free Republic. It's worth it just to see how looney this guy really is. My apologies if you're offended.
"Ward Churchill (Keetoowah Band Cherokee) is one of the most outspoken of Native American activists"
I'm a native American . . . I was born in Cleveland. I'm getting a lot tired of listening to people use that phrase. Churchill is no more a Native American than I and my family are. But he still has a right to make a total moron of himself no matter where he's from. Too bad he made it into the headlines at all.
Oh, and thank you for your service.
Yeah, the guy's an idiot. But at least we're finally seeing at least the looniest of the left finally getting their due.
A much better case can be made that it started about 400 years earlier, when Islam began the attack on Christendom.
Was it those who expired along the Cherokee Trial of Tears of the Long Walk of the Navajo?
Dude, I do believe that is the Trail of Tears. And he calls himself a Cherokee.
Thanks for the post. I had heard about this idiot on FNN but had not seen what he wrote in full.
Welcome to FR.
(Me thinks Mr. Churchill has been smoking too much peyote)
Hehehe... thanks. I've been on FR since 1998.. I just never posted anything before.
Ward Churchill = Bulimia revisited. Who needs to stick a finger down one's throat when one can just read this article?
It is poorly written and cliched. The flaws: it has no real imagery, the main points are not original but are parroted leftist views, and the flow is disjointed. I give it a "D" for style, an "F" for content, and a big yawn for readability.
I think the last line of his drivel is the most telling:
No matter what its eventual fate, America will have gotten off very, very cheap.
The full measure of its guilt can never be fully balanced or atoned for.
That pretty much sums it up. As far as he's concerned, America can't suffer enough. One wonders why he doesn't move somewhere that he has more freedom, like, oh, I dunno... um... hold on... I'm sure a location will come to me soon.... erm.... uhhhhhh..........
Because it's news. This jerk is all over the news here in Colorado and across the nation, from what I can tell. He is currently denying his remarks in this essay but a CD available on his website says this and much more.
He claims to be a former Ranger and a Native American. The American Indian Movement (AIM) has denounced him as a Native fraud today. Was he a Ranger? Time will tell.
He's a lunatic white guy on the tax payers' dole, that's for sure.
"..From a Native Son: Conquest and Colonization in the Americas
Ward Churchill (Keetoowah Band Cherokee) is one of the most outspoken of Native American activists and scholars in North America and a leading analyst of indigenous issues. He is a Professor of Ethnic Studies and Coordinator of American Indian Studies at the University of Colorado. Churchill serves as Associate Director of the Center for Studies of Ethnicity and Race in America at the institution. He is also co-director of the Colorado chapter of the American Indian Movement and vice chair of the American Indian Anti-Defamation Council.
Churchills many books include Marxism and Native Americans, Fantasies of the Master Race, Struggle for the Land, On the Justice of Roosting Chickens, From A Native Son, Critical Issues in Native North America, The COINTELPRO Papers, Indians R Us?, Agents of Repression, Since Predator Came, and A Little Matter of Genocide: Holocaust and Denial in the Americas.
In his lectures and numerous published works, Churchill explores the themes of genocide in the Americas, racism, historical and legal (re)interpretation of conquest and colonization, environmental destruction of Indian lands, government repression of political movements, literary and cinematic criticism, and indigenist alternatives to the status quo.
Churchill is also a past national spokesperson for the Leonard Peltier Defense Committee, has served as a delegate to the United Nations Working Group on Indigenous Populations (as a Justice/Rapporteur for the for the 1993 International People's Tribunal on the Rights of Indigenous Hawaiians), and as an advocate/prosecutor of the First Nations International Tribunal for the Chiefs of Ontario..."

Department of Ethnic Studies Page
The guy is a Kook in the Department of Kook studies. The regents should do away with him and the whole department, not that they are likely to do either.
Dang... was that a jugular you were going for? :)
Any news on the status of the Board of Regent's meeting on his continued employment?
This "essay" is a stream of conciousness rant of self-loathing.
The man has a grotesquely distorted sense of history and of himself. His very existence must be a continual torture. But, I don't feel at all sorry for him.
Based on his clearly expressed view that the aggrieved are justified in the practice of violence if they don't get their way merely by asking, I wonder how he will react if violence comes HIS way.
He has certainly given good cause to many people.
Hehehe. Pulled it from another thread today. Havn't heard anything about the Regents Meeting, but just found out he is headed my way in April. Eastern Washington University is hosting him. Sounds like a FReep is on the way....
The sucking sound you hear as you read this waste of time is the author trying to extricate his head from his a$$.
