BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - A Web site posted a photograph of what it claimed was a kidnapped U.S. soldier, but doubts were quickly raised about its authenticity and the U.S. military said no soldiers were missing.
An American toy manufacturer said the figure in the photo resembled one of its military action figures, originally produced for sale at U.S. bases in Kuwait.
The statement appeared on a Web site where militants' statements are often posted and was in the name of a group that has claimed previous kidnappings, the Mujahedeen Brigades.
The Arabic text, however, contained several misspellings and repetitions.
Staff Sgt. Nick Minecci, a U.S. military spokesman in Baghdad, said ``no units have reported anyone missing.''
The photo in the posting showed a figure dressed in desert fatigues, wearing a vest and knee pads and with a gun pointed to its head. All the items are similar to ones that come in a box with the action figure, named ``Cody.''

What's wrong with these people? Are they on dope?
A friend of mine owns a store that sells Dragon figures. He recognized it immediately and called the AP. They just laughed at him.
He made it to the local news today.
Liam Cusack, of the toy manufacturer Dragon Models USA Inc., said the image bore a striking resemblance to the African-American version of its ``Cody'' action figure.
``It is our doll ... To me, it looks definitely like it is,'' Cusack told The Associated Press. ``Everything the guy is wearing is exactly what comes with our figure. If you look at the two pictures side by side, it'd be a huge coincidence.''
Too funny that the MSM jumped all over it, and that was a toy.
Interesting how quickly the "main stream media" was to jump on the "it's a disaster" bandwagon... and how slowly it will take for them to correct the story...if ever...
To be a fly on the wall in Teddy Kennedy's, Micheal Moore's, Kerry's, or Clinton's speach writer's office when the news of the fake happened..... All that work writing a hate speach to blast President Bush and *poof* it all goes up in smoke...
However, Barbie is reportedly attending a firarms self defense class, dumped the wimp Ken and is seeking single male Gi Joe dolls with the object of dating a real male....doll...
BUSH CAPTURES BIN LADEN!!
AP screwed the pooch on this one. They want bad news so bad they don't even look closely anymore.
I think it was a Rather interesting report. But, it was just another case of Cing the BS.
The New York Times will have a report on this tomorrow asserting that even though the soldier is fake the story is accurate.
AP has been known to make it up. See, e.g., "Crowd booed when Bush announced Clinton was hospitalized, and wished him well." They don't get caught often enough, IMO.
Pinko ted kennedy is now calling for Bush to immediately bring all of our toy soldiers home from Iraq.
LOL...........
Oh, yeah? Several Barbies are stored with 30 Teen-Age Mutant Ninja Turtles in my attic and the last time I looked they were very happy.:)
Seriously this is worse than the Dan Rather fake documents thing. Because people actually understand it. No arguments over "superscript" and such.
It's like how Al Gore sold his soul to the Communist Chinese, but was brought down when he lied about his dog's arthritis medicine.
Doesn't that violate some law about wierd things I don't want to get into? :)
Your #17 is really stunning in several ways. Thanks for everything you do.
STOP, y'all! my sides hurt
Oh no! They have the guy from Team America!
"If proven a fake, Tuesday's posting would not be the first hoax"
That's hilarious that they still leave open the possibility that the photo is authentic. Even without blowing it up it is obviously a ken doll.

Abdulla: But how do we cut off this infidels head?
Mohammed: Cut below his eyes!
Abdulla: This infidel has many eyes!
(The saga continues....)
It's that old "Oh, for the want of a horseshoe nail..." story. If only our schools taught (honest) history...
On WSB radio news, the newsette was laughing as she told the story.
Good one!
They'll have to pry my cold dead fingers off all those #*** Beanies Babies I had to buy.:)
Just seeing this picture makes it all worth wild...... I am just wondering, where were all these high paid "military advisors" (re: arm-chair generals) the media keeps on retainer? I'm just a Cavalry Officer and I spotted this in 2 seconds... what about these generals and colonels and Harvard/Berkley intellectuals?
Maybe I actually get to see real soldiers in real uniforms and handle real weapons a little bit more than the pundits do... Or maybe it's because I'm not out for the President's blood and to the devil with the facts like the media is.... (yes, I am yet another soldier who supports Bush... go figure, maybe the Left is wrong...again)
Like the question of licks to the center of a Tootsi-Pop, the world may never know...
It is serious though, that the MSM once again ran with a story that could be so easily shot down as a fake. I guess they see what they to see, and then don't even bother to use ordinary guide lines of verification.
Special Agent, Huge G. Rexion stationed behind enemy lines was quickly alerted to the soldiers plight.

He hopped in the rear of a nearby F-18 piloted by John "El Gato" Gordo and quickly flew from Paris to Baghdad to help out in Operation Al-Asshat
Flying low over Baghdad, they thought they saw the Senator from Assachusetts parked on the Tigris River, but the yachtboy was delivering embargoed arms to Genghis Khan.

Rexion reconnotiered with LeBow, from the Netherlands 3rd Mountain Dragoons.

Rexion and LeBow contacted the combined forces assembled to deal with the problem. Their business was killing.....and business this day, would be good.

Fox News reports the rescue of the captured US toy solider, and the elimination of insurgent asshats in the Greater Baghdad Area....
I'll bet they grant access to MSM websites. FR is more accurate and right on the money more times than MSM. FR has proven itself time and time again.
LOL!
" Abdulla: But how do we cut off this infidels head?
After today, it should be the infidolls head :-)
Love the story board. :))
LOL
This is unbelievable~ha.
Guess the terorists are getting desperate. My doggie is hiding her sqeaky toys!
Next thing you know the terrorists will show photos of our US intel people torturing prisoners with a blow-up doll in a thong!
Look for non-stop coverage of the Pope and Michael Jackson for the next few days. It will be the media's way of changing the subject.
What happened to Jennifer? Haven't seen her in about 1 1/2 years :-(
Actually, the AP report is loaded with disclaimers that make it pretty clear they didn't believe the photo either.
"...the image of what appears to be..."
"According to the website..."
"The claim could not be verified."
As much as I hate the AP, I have to hand it to them that they reported facts. Let's give credit when it's due--stick AND carrot.
Actually, my computer at work's homepage defaults to MSM....
My Home computer doesn't, for obvious reasons.
Thanks for your service!! I spent 78-80 in El Paso near Ft. Bliss (whatta name for a barren desert!) We used to go off roading and ran into guys doing tank drills in the Bradley tanks all the time. Great guys! Once, one of our fellow off roaders got stuck and they got a deuce and a half to pull him out of the sand dune.
Ahh, youth and carelessness!
Exactly!! They were like "Oh please oh please oh please let it be true!" Anything to bring optimism about Iraq down a notch.
