Freeper Help: What is best Web Host for small business user
2/2/05 | Myself

Posted on 02/02/2005 9:42:30 AM PST by Raycpa

Sorry for the vanity. I need to select a web host and I am very confused about what to look for and prices. It looks like my DSL provider would charge about 12 per month and some results of my search engine yeild providers that charge 5 per month.

I'm told I need no more than 5 megs.

Suggestions and education much appreciated.

I highly recommend GoDaddy.com

Price/service - they have it all

BTW I have no financial interest in godaddy.com!

GoDaddy is good for domain names, I have not tried their hosting.

I have used IMHosted for years and they are very fast and reliable. You can get an account that will allow you to host 3 domains for $4.95 per month. I wholeheartedly recommend them.

I'v been using 123eHost for about 3 years now and have had no problems. They start at $4.17/month and $10.00 to register your domain name. Lots of reasonably priced extras, too.

While you are asking, I would ask a similar question.

Advice for a website/hosting that would only be used to illustrate images of projects, say 10 projects, 3 images each. Images. No downloads or anything else. Minimal traffic.

Yep, GoDaddy is great, though I've only registered domain names with them. As for hosting, the best service I've ever used is http://www.hostmatters.com

Outstanding service from them, miniscule downtime and I've never waited more than fifteen minutes for a technical response from them. I tried others, and may go looking around again soon (I'll need a ton of bandwidth soon), but these guys have been the best I've used so far.

We run therunes.net on http://www.micfo.com/ and they have been an excellent host. Problems with the servers are rare and they are solved fast if they arrise. Price and options for servers are great.

I recommend going to Ebay, and purchasing a cheap hosting plan from a reputable supplier with a reputation there, could cost about $24 per year. Getting a domain name may be easy too, as they may be able to provide that as well for about $15. Once you have those things, you will be send a link to the control panel, and you can set it up yourself. I have more than one that I've set up this way, and it's inexpensive, easy, and I've been happy with the results.

There is a company in Canada called Canaca.com that has obscenely low prices on webhosting...literally 1/50th the price of some competitors here. I've had an account there for two years now with absolutely no problems. $4 US/month for 10GB space, 200GB bandwidth and something like 10,000 email addresses. And no catch so far.

I've used many. Startlogic is very low priced, has plenty of capacity and tools. Most importantly, the servers have a very fast response times.

FREEPERS, PLEASE NOTE: I have used Verio over the past 10 years, but their customer service has gone to h*ll. I noticed a $9.00 charge from Verio on a recent credit card statement, and it's been seveal years since I quit using them. Emailed them for an explanation - none came back. I did have the charge removed.
