Heh, and you did 74 months in prison for some ridiculous amount of pot too? You're pretty crazy, you know that?
Hey, there is also the shoot-out with Mexican Feds (I had to back across the border shot and bleeding on that one), the shoot-out with the shotgun weilding hitman my ex-wife (wife then) and her lover hired and the home invasion I went through.
I have settled down a bit since prison though. My youngest daughter got married and gave birth to my grandson (he is 2 today), my older daughter was injured in Iraq. Have my business. Stand to lose quite a bit now. I have hung up my guns, so to speak.

The Daily Campus is a leftwing rag, comparable to the Daily Worker or some such. You wouldn't believe how much crap I see in this paper when I see it.
No worries though, Uconn students only read it to see how the Huskies did and that man-on-the-street questionnair thing to see if their buddies made it.

Furthermore, studies in 1994 found that ***you*** are much more likely to be murdered by someone you know, not some masked boogey-man with an eye for your wife's jewelry.
Actually, this may be (but probably isn't) true for the average murder victim, but I (and most people) are very different from the average murder victim.
I don't live in a bad neighborhood, I don't sell drugs, and I don't associate with criminals. I pick the "someones I know" very carefully, and would hazard that I and most sensible Americans, if murdered, are most likely not to know our killers.
I'd be interested in seeing how this study would come out if limited to murder victims with no criminal record.

Suicides, homicides and accidental deaths far outnumber instances where someone has successfully used a firearm to defend themselves or their loved ones..
Funny, but the FBI puts the number of defensive gun uses at something about a million a year, while the number of gun deaths is far less (and suicides would find a window to jump out of, anyway.)

ROFL. I can never think of the TV Show CHIPS in the same way after I first saw that picture.

Does anyone have a problem with registering their firearms and if so, why?
I object because registration is the essential prerequisite for confiscation, which is the essential prerequisite for tyranny and genocide.
If they know that they don't know where the guns are, they know that banning them will be fruitless for their plans.

The right wing, not just the gun nuts, has become so enthralled by classical theory that they have completely ignored the mountains of evidence that contradict it. I think the author means the "invisible mountains of evidence", since no one can ever produce it so it can be seen.

8 years ago a fellow in my town, in driving by his church at night saw teenage white kids selling drugs out of a car to subteen black kids on the church property. The third time he saw it he stopped his car and walked up to the miscreants' car and stuck his .22 revolver in the face of the youth at the wheel. He said that the boys should leave right now and not come back ever again because he would not call the police the next time as that would be too slow. There has been no drug activity on church grounds since then.

Not that these guys didn't deserve it, but you could have been charged with at least two felonies for burglary and terroristic threatening or assault or whatever your jurisdiction calls threatening to kill or seriously injure someone with a firearm.

I don't need an excuse, I've got dozens of guns. Actually, I'm simply pro-choice on guns. If you want one, get one. If you don't want one don't get one. Just like an abortion. You think the liberal crazies would understand that.

The alternative was to see myself as less of a man for not handling my own business. When I stand before the Man in Judgement at the Pearly and my life is played out before me, two things will not ever show up. I never kissed anyone ass and I was never a pussy.
There was a great line in the movie "Open Range" when some store keeper is going over a list of excuses as to why no one was standing up to the cattle baron that ruthlessly ran the town. One of the Cowboys said, "Somethings gnaw on a man worse than dyin'." Well, somethings gnaw on me worse than others.

I understand what you are saying. I hear the same type of thing all the time from clients charged with assault, battery, terroristic threatening, that sort of thing. It generally doesn't play well in court.

I know and it sickens me. Used to be that a man could take it into his own hands to set things right. Of course this was when it was not a sin to be a man like it is now. Matt Dillon, Sergeant Saunders (from the "Combat" series), Josh Randall (played by Steve McQueen Wanted: Dead or Alive) used to be our TV heros. Now men are asking fags how to dress on TV. It used to be a rite of passage to finally grow a set and knock a bully on his ass in school after being tormented endlessly. Now you have the cops called on you for using your crayons to draw a gun. But there is a bright light on the horizon. Our young men will return from Iraq and teach their sons what a man is, so there is still hope.

Gun nuts love to quote the Second Amendment, or at least they love to quote the second half. In its entirety, the Second Amendment reads, "A well regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." Certainly a target rich environment in this scribbling.
Interestingly while Robert Schiering excoriates gun nuts and the NRA for not paying attention to the nonrestrictive clause at the beginning of the Second Amendment, he seems to have neglected to include the comma after the word Militia in the same clause.
No doubt a mistake and simple oversight, but it does seem to happen mainly to people who want to ban guns.

retarmy asks:
"Does anyone have a problem with registering their firearms and if so, why? " I even have a problem with the requirement that my firearms have serial numbers. Our Founders would recognize this as an infringement. Why don't you?

"only 251 were determined to be justifiable homicide"Really? I'd like to know where he got that number.
I think he got it here along with every other so called fact in this article

Personally I don't think breaking into someone's house and sticking a gun in some guy's face and threatening to kill him because he stole some of your tools makes you a man. I'd say that makes you a criminal and gives the rest of us responsible gun owners a bad name. It's also the type of thing that's liable to get you or some innocent person killed or hurt real bad. But suit yourself.
