I honestly don't believe the GOP as a whole would be stupid enough to support his proposal. But if they do, they'll lose in more ways than one.

The only opponents the Repubs have are the Dems and they are silent on this issue, or in the very least, agree with it...

My only hope right now is that the GOP would rather protect their behinds and maintain political power than move this amnesty crap forward and lose political power.

I'm not convinced the question "Is it right or is it wrong?" crosses their minds much anymore.
