Fresno officer rescues newborn

The newborn's head was in the dirty toilet water.

Her skin was purple.

Stephen Flick Jr. knew the next few moments were precious.

He turned from a Fresno police officer to a paramedic, a job he held before entering law enforcement.

"I thought, 'Either I'm going to get this kid out and start working, or it'll be dead,'" Flick, 31, said. The incident happened early Friday at a home in southeast Fresno.

A woman called 911, reporting her 15-year-old daughter gave birth while she was going to the bathroom. She thought the baby was dead.

They were partially correct: The baby wasn't breathing, but Flick would change that.

He was a few blocks away from the house when the teenager's mother called police, so he jumped on the call.

"It was pretty much chaos in the house — mom was screaming and crying," Flick said Friday night.

He found the scared teenager sitting on the toilet. Her umbilical cord was still attached to the baby, who was lying face first in the bloodied and soiled water.

Flick moved fast. He asked his partner, officer John Gomez, to fetch some towels. He slipped on a pair of latex gloves and lifted the baby out of the toilet.

Then, just like he'd done so many times during his 11 years as an emergency medical technician and paramedic, Flick put his lifesaving skills to work.

He removed the cord from around the baby's chest and right leg. Then he used his finger to clean out the baby's mouth to make her breathe.

No response.

He held the baby down, head first, to get fluids out of her lungs and mouth.

Using his palm, he lightly struck the baby's back. Then he flipped her over and used two fingers to perform chest compressions.

Praise God from Whom all blessings flow!

He sent a Guardian Angel to save this little child.

That's what I was thinking. Maybe the young girl isn't playing with a full one, but what about the teenager's mother? Obviously, she isn't the brightest bulb either. Glad the little baby is alive despite the idiots around her. Hopefully the little baby will make it okay.

You didn't post the amazing part:

"The husky teenage girl told police she didn't know she was pregnant. She recently went to a doctor because she was feeling sick. But she said a pregnancy test came back negative.

The girl woke up early Friday with a stomach ache and took a laxative. When she went to the bathroom, the baby came out."

Well, it would be amazing if we weren't getting so many stories like this. Let me be the first to say that the mass media backs up the mother in these tales without fail. I used to have no opinion at all about abortion and infant genocide (mothers' "rights", etc.) but seeing how the fifth estate backs it in all its forms has convinced me that it is inexcusably evil and wrong.

Unfortunately, I had to excerpt the article. I don't believe all these "I didn't realize I was pregnant" stories either. And why are all these poor children being born in the toilet? Not a nice place to start out your life. They had one case on MSNBC a few weeks ago where the baby was born to another teenage girl in the toilet and the mother of the teenager, not wanting to "lose face" in the community, held her newborn grandbaby down in the toilet until it died. Nice grandma. Now she and her daughter can worry about losing face in prison.

She didn't know she was pregnant? Missing 9 periods after having unprotected sex? Leaves the baby drowning in the toilet until a man comes to take it out?

What a stupid kid.

I feel sorry for the baby.
