The Dems' Week from Hell
The Weekly Standard ^ | 2/14/2005 | Noemie Emery

Posted on 02/07/2005 6:39:34 AM PST by reaganaut1

Writing about the Democrats' attacks on Condi Rice, Ted Kennedy's comparisons of Iraq to Vietnam, Evan Bayh's vote against Rice, and John Kerry's appearance on "Meet the Press", Emery writes:

"EVERYTHING THAT HAS BEEN WRONG with the Democrats in the past several years was on vivid display during Hell Week: the teeth-grinding shrillness; the race card, misplayed with such gusto; the self-interest so blatant it defeats its own purpose; the crippling dearth of ideas. With a few brave exceptions (a faction of one named Joe Lieberman), the Democrats split into two major camps: the wingnuts--Dean, Boxer, and Kennedy--who know what they think, which alas sets them at odds with the rest of the country; and the caucus of cowards--Bayh, Edwards, and Kerry--who believe in nothing so much as their own career prospects, and change their minds on the gravest of war and peace issues on the basis of what serves their ends."

Now that's telling 'em.

"If Evan Bayh has learned nothing from Kerry and Edwards, it seems clear enough that Kerry has learned nothing either. He isn't a statesman, but he plays one on TV..."

Sweeeeeet!

With a few brave exceptions (a faction of one named Joe Lieberman).......

Emery got that wrong. Trouble with LIEberman he wants to have it both ways. LIEberman and Bill Bennett used to give out Silver Sewer Awards to express opposition to Hollywood's salacious, sexually explicit and violent music, TV and movie output. Then when Lieb became Gore's running mate, he went to Hollywood on bended knee for votes and campaign financing.

Even more offensive, Lieberman made a pro-life pledge to religious leaders in 1988 as Ct Atty General running for pro-abort Sen Weicker's seat based on a poll indicating pro-life votes were there for the taking. Once he got in--with pro-life votes---Lieberman turned tail and became an unwavering abortion rights supporter and even voted against a partial-birth abortion ban on six separate occassions. The Ntl Right to Life Committee still has meeting notes of candidate Lieberman's calculated, phony pro-life pledges.

Lieberman's also a dedicated gun-grabber - as his voting record clearly shows.

I don't know if you've been following the representation of the Democrats in the Democrat Underground forum, but I feel we are very close to a hot civil war with them.

I have been wondering how the Democrats managed to miscalculate so badly.

Very interesting analysis. It's a great read, I'm urging everyone to take a couple minuites and go read it. That second half really nails it, tying in the DOD and CIA!

The way you put it, I almost feel sorry for the RATS. Nah, but it's fun to see them twist and turn.

Um, no - I stay well away from their poison hole. But it's no news to me. Their hatred and hysteria is ratcheting up day by day - it's plain for all to see. And they *are* America's domestic enemies.

Sooner or later, they'er going to cross the line. Then I'll hunt down and kill as many of them as I possibly can. No mercy. No remorse. Ever.

"I wouldn't think having a former kleagle of the Ku Klux Klan lead a futile floor fight against the nomination of the first black woman to be secretary of state is a good way to enhance the appeal of the Democratic party to swing voters, but maybe that's just me."

All this and Dean too.

"Lieberman's also a dedicated gun-grabber - as his voting record clearly shows."

Lieberman also supports the military, just not their right to vote.

-----excerpted from your link-----

"The Afghanistan elections got little notice in the press. The Bush people had to ask themselves how do we make this a major story. One way would be to make both the media and the Democrats think it would be a huge disaster. The media would dispatch lots of reporters to report the impending disaster.. only to discover they were reporting a huge success. The on the scene reporters could not contain their amazement of the actions of the Iraqi people."

It's called "stratergy".

LIEb likes to appear to be all things to all men. Like a chameleon---he takes on the colors of the moment. He's a bad actor, although he does manage to slip under the radar.
