A CNN Executive Says G.I.s in Iraq Target Journalists
New York Sun ^ | February 8, 2005 | RODERICK BOYD

The head of CNN's news division, Eason Jordan, ignited an Internet firestorm last week when he told a panel at a World Economic Forum gathering in Davos, Switzerland, that the American military had targeted journalists during operations in Iraq.

Mr. Jordan, speaking in a panel discussion titled "Will Democracy Survive the Media?" said "he knew of about 12 journalists who had not only been killed by American troops, but had been targeted as a matter of policy," said Rep. Barney Frank, a Democrat of Massachusetts who was on the panel with Mr. Jordan.

In an interview with The New York Sun, Mr. Frank said Mr. Jordan discussed in detail the plight of an Al-Jazeera reporter who had been detained by American forces, was made to eat his shoes while incarcerated in the Abu Ghraib prison, and was repeatedly mocked by his interrogators as "Al-Jazeera boy."

A man who said he was a producer with Al-Jazeera at the network's headquarters in Doha, Qatar, said he was unaware of any such incident, "although we have had problems with American troops in and out of Iraq." The Al-Jazeera producer refused to give his name.

We should start targeting some journalists.

How about Al-Jazeera HQ for a start?

That's a lot better reported story than the crap story by Howard Kurtz in WaPo today. The NY Sun is one paper that isn't afraid of the 'sphere.

New volunteer human shields, throw them in the building before the troops go in, to make sure the troops don't shoot the guy's who are pretending to be dead.

If they don't want to be killed, then they shouldn't be out there interviewing terrorists while we're out there hunting them.

It's like PETA hugging a whitetail buck when you're about to shoot it.

I know Eason Jordan's allegations are untrue and can prove it.

Kevin Sites is currently on assignment for NBC News in Asia.

If GIs were targeting journalists, Kevin would be on assignment in Hell.

From the article:

Mr. Frank said he tried to get information out of Mr. Jordan so that he could forward it to the appropriate congressional investigative authorities. " I think Congress has demonstrated with Abu Ghraib that we will aggressively pursue reasonable allegations," he said. Mr. Frank said he has tried repeatedly over the past few days to get Mr. Jordan to provide evidence of crimes against journalists. He said Mr. Jordan promised to get back to him, "but I haven't heard anything yet," Mr. Frank said.

Barney, Barney -- if you and your corrupt colleagues in Congress were really serious about "investigating" anything really important, you would have shut down the MSM by now. Please don't insult our intelligence.

They were probably only going after the embedded journalists among the terrorists. : P

IN all seriousness, I believe there is ample evidence of journalist working with terrorists. My main arguement is based on the reports of the journalists who did not report IEDs such as roadside bombs to troopers who then inadvertantly, without warning from those reporters, denoted the bombs and were injured as a result of the blast. The journalist got their story.

There are several reports along those lines here a FR.

Then again, there's the old joke about the captured marine and three journalists:

Anchors Dan Rather and Peter Jennings, NPR Reporter Cokie Roberts, along with a U.S. Marine assigned to protect them were hiking through the Iraq desert one day when they were captured by Iraqis. They were tied up, led to a village, and brought before the leader.

The leader said, "I am familiar with your western custom of granting the condemned a last wish; so, before we kill and dismember you, do you have any last requests?"

Dan Rather said, "Well, I'm a Texan; so I'd like one last bowlful of hot spicy chili." The leader nodded to an underling who left and returned with the chili. Rather ate it all and said, "Now I can die content."

Peter Jennings said, "I am Canadian, so I'd like to hear the song 'OCanada' one last time." The leader nodded to a terrorist who had studied the Western World and knew the music. He returned with some rag-tag musicians and played the anthem. Jennings sighed and declared he could now die peacefully.

Cokie Roberts said, "I'm a reporter to the end. I want to take out my tape recorder and describe the scene here and what's about to happen. Maybe someday someone will hear it and know that I was on the job till the end."

The leader directed an aide to hand over the tape recorder and Roberts dictated some comments. She then said, "Now I can die happy."

The leader turned and said, "And now, Mr. U.S. Marine, what is your final wish?"

"Kick me in the ass," said the Marine.

"What?" asked the leader. "Will you mock us in your last hour?"

"No, I'm not kidding. I want you to kick me in the ass," insisted the Marine. So the leader shoved him into the open, and kicked him in the ass.

The Marine went sprawling, but rolled to his knees, pulled a 9mm pistol from inside his cammies and shot the leader dead. In the resulting confusion, he leapt to his knapsack, pulled out his M4 carbine, and sprayed the Iraqis with gunfire. In a flash, all the Iraqis were either dead or fleeing for their lives.

As the Marine was untying Rather, Jennings, and Roberts, they asked him, "Why didn't you just shoot them? Why did you ask them to kick you in the ass?"

"What," replied the Marine, "and have you three assholes call me the aggressor ?!?

When you behave like the enemy, expect to be treated like the enemy. A warning to all the MSM. You're acting like the enemy.

I think Eason Jordan would be a better starting point. Ask and ye shall receive.

"Al-Jazeera boy."

How cruel! It would be more accurate to call him what he was, an "In-bed with the terrorists".

Kevin Sites is currently on assignment for NBC News in Asia.

That seditious traitor stopped adding to his blog shortly after his big "scoop." Next thing you know he was covering Achea (no doubt he was denied any further embed opportunities in Iraq), and his blog is no more.

www.kevinsites.com is for sale is anyone wants it.

Now lets see what CNN does.

Is there a tape or transcrpit from Davos out yet?
