The DUmmies tried to "out" Buckhead, but wasn't it the LA Slimes who "outed" his real identity?

Didn't the LA Slimes have investigative reporters & staff spend time working to uncover Buckhead? Instead of trying to uncover the source of the Rather forgeries, i.e., the wrongdoers and accomplices to a serious fraud, the LA Slimes went after a whistle-blower who helped expose the fraud of Rather's reporting.

Are you saying that the DUmmies helped the Slimes expose Buckhead's identity? I would doubt that most DUmmies would have the brains to help, but please enlighten me if they did contribute to the Slimes' efforts.

Buckhead probably has a better memory of this than me, but if I recall correctly, the DUmmies started a thread trying to "out" Buckhead on 9/13. DU has deleted the post, but you can see a Free Republic mention of it here. The DUmmies analyzed his posts, and came to a conclusion that he was a lawyer from the Atlanta area. They might have even narrowed his identity down to a handful of people. The Los Angeles Times printed their story definitively naming Buckhead on 9/17.

So yes, the DUmmies were on the story before the L.A. Times. I'm not saying that DU helped the L.A. Slimes expose Buckhead's identity, but I'm sure many media types lurk there as well. It wouldn't be surprising if the L.A. Slimes reporters used DU research as a starting point for their attempt to "find" Buckhead.

The lamestream media wants to stalk us and show how 'biased' we are and that we can't be trusted to actually make the news when they won't.

Is anyone else emboldened by this? This gets me really jacked that we're being paid so much attention (hello there lurkers!)

On identifying screennames - my username pares it down to about 28 people in the last 15 years of Institute history. Read a couple of my posts way back when and you'll figure me out in now time. But I have nothing to hide and don't work in the political arena, so I'm not expecting my identity to be a problem.

(That being said, I have been more vigilant lately about keeping personal info off my posts. Remember, we're fair game like Mary Cheney.)

Of all the things the media does, this is probably the one that bothers me the most. Whether it was the SwiftVets, the leaked Judicial Memos, Buckhead...or anything that adversely effects the Dems, the media always ignores the substance of the message, and attacks the messanger.

This is in stark contrast to so-called Whistleblowers on the Left, whose message is not only believed...but the messenger him/herself becomes a national hero for exposing malfiecense. Democrats are described as consciencious Whistleblowers, while Republicans are threatened with criminal charges as their reputations and motives are attacked.
