Interesting. Short thread only 23 posts. Not much comment but some saying that rumors like that need some source and should not be taken seriously. NAPAC did not start the thread and only confirmed that he had heard the same rumors. A poster named VelmaCruther registered for that thread and made their first post saying that they had heard several varitions of the same rumor but involving different women in each rendition --- seemed to chalk it up to urban legend.

There is only one other post from VelmaCruther who initiated a thread on some jazz saxophonist coming out of the closet.

Hmmmm. Who is VelmaCruther? (Tin Foil Hat On)

Sorry Ditto. Didn't mean to seem so mysterious. I enjoy reading some Freeper threads, rarely have enlightening comments to add to them. But the neverending and ever-evolving urban legend of the media woman and the politician/law official/sports figure has been "whispered" around these parts (Baltimore-Annapolis-DC) for a few years ... and each variation is funnier than the last.

(And my other post -- about jazz musician" Dave Koz publicly announcing he is gay -- wasn't a thread I began, but rather a note I added to an axisting thread about musicians, including Dolly Parton, appearing on CD supporting "same-sex marriage." Another poster expressed surprise and chagrin that Dave Koz would appear on such a CD, and I thought that comment was funny, considering Koz is, in fact, gay.)

Ironic that I mentioned the media woman/politician/law official/sports figure legend was a mystery better left to Spooky Mulder. Seems I may have inspired some very minor "X Files" suspicions on my own. Didn't mean to!

NCPAC posted this on another thread:

To: ClintonBeGone "How in the world did they find out he was NCPAC?" No one can figure that out.

What can I say other than the Governor had no knowledge whatsoever of any postings on FR. For the record, I offered to resign before being asked to do so. And, no, I have not spoken directly with the Governor about any of this.

The Baltimore Sun will be running a piece on this as well on Wednesday. They called Tuesday night and were ready to pin the whole thing on the Governor, and I couldn't let that happen because it simply isn't true. The Governor had no knowledge of anything involving O'Malley or the "rumors."

Also, the Baltimore Sun has a list of FReepers they read off to me to see if I was "also" posting under those screen names. I don't remember all of them, but CrushKerry was one.

It's been one wild ride, FRiends.

No, they found him through Richard Viguerie: http://www.conservativehq.com/index.php?p=13#postcomment

And more:

If I were to hide, that would only hurt a Governor I've known and admired for a long time. You live by the sword, you die by the sword - and the Governor wasn't the one living by the sword.

As for your other post asking why I posted certain things on FR if I knew they were wrong, please read my FR post which is quoted in the Washington Post. I never started the rumor. I was commenting on a rumor that had been out there. However, given the volatility of the situation - and knowing the blowback potential on the Governor - I opted out rather than letting him bleed further at the hands of O'Malley. By commenting on/propagating a story already out there, I was inadvertantly opening up the Governor as a target. That was a mistake, one for which I am willing to take full blame and consequence.

Thank you so much, Bad Company.

Again, it's the perception of what I wrote as opposed to what I actually wrote. But, perception is reality....

Believe me when I say I was lucky to work for the Governor as long as I did. He is a man of honor, and I couldn't let a man of honor take a hit for something he did not do and had no knowledge of.

Think I'm signing off at this point. I have an interesting day coming up tomorrow. Good night all, and thanks!

Outted himself on FR here

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1291364/posts To: COBOL2Java "Did you mention FreeRepublic to him (Ehlrich)?"

I've known/worked in various capacities for and with the Governor since 1986. He and his wife, First Lady Kendel Ehrlich, are two of the classiest and ballsiest people I've ever met. I met Lt. Governor Steele in 2001 and I worked some with both the Governor and Lt. Governor on Ehrlich's 2002 Gubernatorial Campaign.

Over the past year or so, I've made both men aware of FreeRepublic. In fact, at the MD GOP Fall Convention a few weeks ago, I informed Steele directly of a lot of the praise/compliments/support he has from so many Freepers. After this discussion, one of Steele's aides asked me for FR's web address. I know this aide well, so I wouldn't be surprised if he was lurking on here now and then.
