It's not everybody, it's the LameSream Media (LSM). The LSM voted for Clinton at something like 97% and they think he was another Thomas Jefferson. They miss him and the second best thing is his "wife" Hillary.
It's putting powder on a pig. They'll be selling Hillary for the next 4 years as a moderate. Hopefully, the rest of the USA will see her as another NE liberal 'Rat and she'll crash and burn during the primaries.

Hillary has the NY Senate job for life, or as long as she wants it. I've been saying this for 2 years - there's NO way Rudy can beat her. 911 has faded in many people's minds, and Rudy's been out of politics too long.
