Wouldn't COBRA give them 18 months coverage,

Yeah, but then they'd have to write the check for it every month instead of the employer dealing with it.

Then it ought to read "some have given up their health insurance", not "some have lost their health insurance".

How do you get an ex-DNC staffer off your porch?

Pay him for the pizza.

I've been waiting thirty years to read this article!

When you have to, you take ANY job

You are so right. When umemployed, take any job you can get. It breaks the logjam that's keeping you sitting at home waiting for an "opportunity" to come along. It gets you out into the market place where you can encounter people and situations that will open up other doors. God will help if you take even a tiny baby step.

"There just aren't enough jobs to go around so you have a ton of people fighting for jobs," said Dorsey, who is moving to Minnesota, where he will house-sit for his parents until he finds another job.

What a tactful way of saying he's going to sit in front of the TV in his underwear in his parents' basement. LOL

Thank you for the article - it's a hoot to read!

Do all of these unemployed political workers go against the unemployment rate?

Do these campaigns have to pay unemployment insurance?

"No one has left the city," he said. "This is what we do. We can't imagine doing anything else."

He hasn't yet fully explored the capacities of his imagination. Obviously, he's not hungry enough.

If I looked at this correctly, working for the DNC was the only job these people have ever had. Say they got out of high school at age 18, went to college for four years, age at graduation 22 yrs. old, started working for the DNC soon after because the Democrats started campaigning right after yr. 2000. So after the election, these people are 26 yrs old, with no job experience. They just lost four (4) yrs of their life because now the ones that qualify for DNC jobs are interns at 22yrs old just out of college and are chumping at the bit to show what they can do and will work for peanuts. The private sector doesn't want the 26 yrs olds either because they can get a 22 yr old and with no bad habits and train them better than these 26 yr olds that know all of their rights and cause trouble.
