Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005 10:47 a.m. EST McAuliffe Blasts Catholic Church
Press reports say Terry McAuliffe's speech to party faithful in Washington, D.C. Thursday night was a real yawner.
But the audience's bored expressions soon turned to winces of concern when soon-to-be retired Democratic chairman seemed to veer away from his morale boosting message, and began to attack the Catholic Church.
"I was very dismayed at the Catholic Church in last year's election," McAuliffe told the crowd, which had gathered to give him a grand send off. "The way they went into their pulpits and told people it was a sin to vote for John Kerry was nothing short of just outrageous."
Next a bitter-sounding McAuliffe turned his fire on John Kerry. After praising Kerry for giving his failed presidential bid "everything he had," McAuliffe complained that his attacks on President Bush were too weak.
The top Dem cited Kerry's acceptance speech at the Democratic convention as a prime example.
"I think, to be honest with you, [Kerry's speech] was ridiculous," McAuliffe said.
When he received the final approved draft of his convention speech, he recalled, "I just threw it in the air and said, 'Why don't we just say George Bush is a great guy?'"
"Meanwhile," the outgoing chairman griped, "[Republicans] go to New York and spend four days ripping our face off and they go up 10 points in the polls."
oh dear... what is it with liberals and shooting themselves in the foot? (oh and before anyone makes the joke, the liberal will say: lack of gun control...)...
I hope he enjoy's shoveling coal.
LOL they are going nuts!
""The way they went into their pulpits and told people it was a sin to vote for John Kerry was nothing short of just outrageous"
I would like to read one documented case of this ever being said from the pulpit of any church.
Mcawful is a pantload.
My Catholic church didn't do that, but we certainly all know what goes on at black churches for the DemocRATS. The RATS actually give campaign speeches there. McAuliffe is one bitter, failed guy.
Liberals have succeeded in jailing Christians who preached the gospel to homosexuals in Philadelphia, right? Soon lib DemocRats will jail Catholics for teaching abortion is wrong...
The only appropriate use of the pulpit, is when Black ministers urge their congregation to vote for Kerry.
Neither did mine. This guy really is bitter.
Some Catholic Churches did do that.
And they were 100 % right. For Christians abortion is a sin, homosexuality is a sin, and Kerry's party stands for that.
What a Gem the Democratic party is, PLEASE keep insulting people's personal beliefs and Christianity. Just keep doing it, it's sure to win more votes. NOT.
That IS the truth. His only real complaint is that they didn't have enough buses to pack up the Dem Robots from these churches and take them from polling station to polling station to cast 'Provisional' ballots. IMO typical Dem accusation to cover for their own excesses and illegalities.
I'm really looking forward to the Dean administration.
These will be golden years ... for us.
And John Kerry going to the pulpit in Black churches telling them they would be drafted, kept away from the polls with fire hoses and dogs and that President Bush didn't want black children to learn was okay?
Wow, paranoid, hyperbolic and delusional, the triple crown. Actually, Terry, the Dems don't need the Pubbies' help in getting their faces "ripped off," if the surgically-enhanced Hillary, Nancy and Effin are any indication.
"Meanwhile," the outgoing chairman griped, "[Republicans] go to New York and spend four days ripping our face off and they go up 10 points in the polls."
Mmmm, sure is toasty, warming my feet by the heat of liberal meltdown... ;~)
Ping
what's new?
A step up from his current job of shoveling sh*t!
"...McAuliffe complained that his attacks on President Bush were too weak."
Mc Awful is delusional. If Kerry's attacks on the President had been any stronger, the Secret Service would have had to arrest him.
calling all Catholics.........
