Every Star Trek series that came after Captain James T. Kirk was a cheap, politically-correct knock-off.
The Enterprise series has been many things but has hardly been politically correct; but it has been Pro-Life, Pro-Gun and Pro-War.

Gotta look for these re-runs.

Yes, they have had some very surprising episodes that cause you to ponder what sort of shake-up there was in the pool of ST writers.

Exactly. From a political perspective, ENTERPRISE is far more sensible and realistic than TNG. I like all three of 'em myself, though there are times when Picard's frenchness comes through a bit too strongly.

I don't understand why FReeper Trekkers wouldn't like "Enterprise". I've only seen the last season and the current one, but the story lines clearly advocate moral values. One episode this year even addressed the issue of "religious extremist" resistance (Syrrannites) versus corrupt government.

Have to disagree. The recent story-line where the Vulcan government faked a terror attack as a provocation to attack domestic enemies and prepared to launch a pre-emptive war against possible WMD could have been written/directed by Michael Moore.

Don't know about "Enterprise" myself, but I remember when "Star Trek: The Next Generation" came out back in '87 ('88?). As soon as they introduced Counselor Troy - basically, a touchy-feely, thoroughly worthless character whose job was to explore everyone's "feelings", I knew it was going to be a lame, PC p.o.s.
Granted, TNG it had it's moments, but I'd take Kirk and his crew over Picard any day. I mean, in Star Trek: TNG, how many times did Picard ever actually kick someone's *ss? Kirk used to do it in almost every episode - to the point of being comical at times (how many times did Kirk deliver the classic "elbow to the back" move?) - but it was still far more entertaining.
