Mayor Gavin Newsom on Saturday urged gay couples to back politicians who support gay marriage, saying it is time "to hold our elected officials accountable." If they did that he'd be thrown in jail for violating his oath of office in contravening the California State Constitution.

With that new brand of fast-acting AIDS on the street, he won't be currying favor with that crowd for long.

Gavin Newsom could not have done more for the GOP if he intended to. The Gay Marriage issue galvanized Conservative
opposition.

This is now an official
thread. Like you'd be mayor of SF and have any other opinion?

But Newsom did violate his oath of office. Lockyer hemmed and hawed. And tossed what should have been HIS job to decide (arrest?) to the courts. DOMarriage was IN the CA constitution. And Newsom is still standing on His Royal Magesty's staircases.. encouraging people to be fooled again.

How many times is THIS CRIMINAL going to be able to BREAK CALIFORNIA LAW and go against the WILL OF THE PEOPLE, before he is thrown in jail or run out of California for good???

I was in SF this afternoon. It's still a beautiful city (geographically) with some spectacular neighborhoods. But it's way out of the main stream politically.
I say "Go, Gavin", because this kind of thinking will sink the dems faster than a rock in water.
And before anybody condemns all San Franciscans, remember that about 50,000 of us voted for President Bush in November.

"Gavin Newsom could not have done more for the GOP if he intended to. The Gay Marriage issue galvanized Conservative

Heck, he did a lot more than that. Us Republicans can tell blacks (and other minorities) that the Dems are terrible for them. But no one can beat the gays giving them the same message. They try to compare their "struggle" for gay marriage with that of the civil rights era blacks. We're talking blacks that were being lynched and humiliated daily because of segregation - not to mention being subjected to inner city public schools today.
The blacks, after what they've been through, are supposed to allow gays, probably the group with the most disposable income in the country (since they generally don't have kids, and also do quite well professionally), to share the term "civil rights". It's even too much for them to bear.
Bush's modest gains with blacks, along with several other significant events (like the Dems treating Condi Rice and Clarence Thomas like animals), is starting to cause a realignment in national politics.
If the Dems aren't careful, they'll wind up with the gay vote (about 2%), while we'll get the rest (about 98%).
It's certainly a lot of fun to watch that party disintegrate before our eyes - and it's about time.

And the funny thing about that is that many of us were disappointed when ultra-leftist
Matt Gonzalez lost the mayoral election to Newsom. Disappointed that the RATS dodged the bullet of having such a publicly visible leftwing whack-job in office.
But Newsom out-whacked Gonzalez, and ended up playing an imporant role in publicizing the dangerous idiocy of left wing politics in America.

He didn't bother defending his own marriage, either.

Yes, luck plays a part. But in the way Louis Pasteur talked about when he said: "Chance favors the prepared mind."
Luck helped us. But we were all there, ready to take advantage of it.
