I am used to it, of course, but it still irks me, gang.
On 7 january 2005, in my Global Positioning Statement in 630 KHOW and Newsradio 850 KOA, which also goes out to various Clear Channel stations from coast to coast, I told of rumors of US UAVs over Iran trying to get the scoop on Iran's nuclear program.
On 14 January I confirmed the rumors and broke the story on the GPS. This was all over FR.
Now the Washington Post is claiming to have broken the story this morning.
It was OK for me to break this story, BTW, because Iran knew full well what we were doing. Our UAV capabilities are unclassified.
This is just another example of unprofessional behavior at the Post. If I weren't on vicadin (sp?) and if I didn't look like Mohammed Ali just pounded me, I would fly to DC and pee on the Post's porch.
By the way...GOOD JOB Gunny!
Let the world know who got it "Fast, fair and accurate"
Well, in the eyes of the post.. it's not news until they say it's news.
So the large newspapers and network TV stations are reduced to fabricating news, (Jayson Blair), forging documents (Dan Rather), and plagiarizing stories from Gunny Bob.
How sad that the MSM reporters can't seem to be professional. I guess it says a lot about the state of journalism schools today.
Too bad we can't turn the tables on the comPost and sue them for copyright violations like they did to FR.

Here is my GPS of 14 January verbatim:
"I can now confirm my GPS report of 7 January, which told of rumors about CIA UAVs being sent into Iran to collect data on Iran's nuke sites. One was shot down. These UAVs may have detection systems aboard that would indicate nuclear weapons development is going on at a certain site. This move by the US could easily be considered an act of war, i.e., sending a reconnaissance aircraft into Iranian airspace for the purpose of gathering information on Iran's military capabilities. Iran is playing this close to the vest because they don't know what data the UAVs have collected, which could prove Iran is developing nukes. One of the UAVs in use in Iran is the huge ( 44' x 116' ) Global Hawk, which has a 12,000-mile range, and is anti-aircraft-missile resistant and can be controlled from the AWACS and JSTARS aircraft from great distances. It flies at a maximum altitude of 65,000 feet."
Here is my GPS of 7 January verbatim:
"For several days, rumors have been flying about an aircraft of some sort having been shot down near Irans top-secret nuclear weapons development site at Arak. Those rumors are close to being substantiated now. It appears that an unmanned aerial vehicle or UAV, in other words a remote-controlled drone, had been flying over the Iranian facility when it was shot down by Iranian forces. Intelligence coming out of the Middle East says the craft was on a reconnaissance mission to gather information on whats going on at Arak. Not only may it have had photographic equipment aboard, but also scientific equipment designed to sniff the air for signs of nuclear activity. The speculation is that the aircraft was operated by the CIA from inside Iraq as a means of collecting intelligence that could be used by President Bush or Israel to make a decision as to what action, if any, to take against the terrorist government of Iran for building nuclear weapons. That, of course, is a charge the Iranians have long denied."
I mean, it is as if the WP just took my story and claimed they wrote the damn thing.

Hey GunnyBob...glad to see you're a member of FR! I try to catch your show every chance i can. Are you still running an exploratory committee for a run for Governor? You'll have my vote if you do. Believe I met a friend of yours once...a gentleman by the name of Tant.
Keep up the good work!
The Post, all the news that's fit to pilfer.
Thanks for the spell check. The whole operation/recovery was supposed to take no more than 3 hours at the most. Seven hours later...
The Post can merely claim that they'd heard rumors and investigated the story on their own. Are there any parts of your reports that seemed lifted verbatim? If so, post them side by side. If the reporter lifted your story there will be one s***storm, guaranteed....
So, are you 'unnamed sources' or 'a reliable source'?
lol.
[Many MSM are notorious for quoting a fellow reporter, then claiming that reporter as an 'unnamed source'. So, after a while, the story is sourced by one reporter sourcing another reporter who heard a rumor from a third reporter.]
