PRESIDENTIAL NEWS OF THE DAY: As has become their custom while in Washington on Sundays, the President and First Lady attended St. John's Church. They are spending a quiet weekend in Washington. In DC, there is always some wag who has to nitpick just to fill column space. I saw an article the other day in which the author was speculating as to why a President who says he doesn't like Washington has spent the last several weekends in the city instead of going to Camp David. Now why can't I get paid for doing nothing -- a job situation which this author seems to enjoy.
QUOTE OF THE DAY: From the President's remarks at the National Prayer Breakfast, Feb. 3.
In November 1864, after being reelected to his second term, Lincoln declared he would be the most "shallow and self-conceited blockhead" on Earth if he ever thought he could do his job "without the wisdom which comes from God and not from men." Throughout a terrible Civil War, he issued many exhortations to prayer, calling upon the American people to humble themselves before their Maker and to serve all those in need.
Remember this whenever secularists and athiests continue their assault on the First Amendment freedom of religion clauses. On this Sunday, Feb. 13, 2005, here is a SECOND QUOTE OF THE DAY: The First Amendment to the United States Constitution.
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

PHOTO OF THE DAY: A photo very much in keeping with today's Quotes of the Day.
President George W. Bush joins the First Lady, Vice President, and Lynne Cheney in singing a hymm during the 55th Presidential Inaugural Prayer Service at the National Cathedral in Washington, Jan. 21. Notice that it is the 55th national service, which means Presidents Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush 41, Clinton and Bush 43 have all attended. If the secularists and athiests have their way, such services would be discontinued, because they are called "national" and are attended by presidents and vice presidents in their offical capacity as heads of government.

The President and First Lady arriving for church this morning. He seems to have gotten a haircut, and is looking particularly dashing in this photo.

The President and First Lady this morning.

Something catches his attention. BTW, note that the agent holding the door of the limo is African American. Under this President, it seems many more African American agents have advanced to the elite presidential detail than ever before.

Leaving church this morning. He likes to wave to the reporters (as well as supporters). I think when he does, he's sort of tweaking the reporters a bit, LOL! His face lights up and his eyes get that mischievous spark.

The President and Rev. Luis Leon. Notice the two agents in the background. Still can't be certain, but I believe the presidential detail has, indeed, changed over. If so, one of these two agents is probably the President's new lead agent.

While not the detail's lead agent, the person who mans the limo door is one of the more senior agents on the detail.

Look closely at the man behind the President at the SOTU, center right of the photo. Normally, the lead agent of the presidential detail is the one who always has his back. If the lead agent is not present for some reason, then the #2 agent on the detail takes this position. It was this photo that caused me to think that there has been a detail change-over.

For Anonymoussierra -- in case you didn't see these White House photos of your President and ours earlier in the week.

For a variety of reasons, the folks at Yahoo have put up several older photos of the President today. I'm not sure this next one has been on the Dose before. Yahoo put it up to correct their caption. It's a nice impromptu family portrait taken at the inaugural. It shows the President, his wife and daughters, and Laura's mom, Jenna Welch. In the top right corner, we can see Gov. Jeb Bush and his wife, Columba, and at the bottom right, we can see Vice President Cheney.

Something tickled the President's funny bone while Sen. Trent Lott was speaking. No one else in the photo seems to be paying any attention to whatever Lott was saying.

Something catches the eyes of GWB's parents and daughters, and makes them smile as they walk through the Capitol rotunda on Inauguration Day.

The twins look particularly fetching in this photo.

Among the oldies but goodies Yahoo put back to the top are these two, which were a hit on the Dose when they were first taken back in December.
The President having a word with Barney.

Cowboy boots. Cowboy hat (white, of course). Secret Service shades. Mommas, if your babies are going to grow up to be this kind of cowboy, please don't stop them.

Speaking of oldies but goodies, I don't recall seeing this photo of Barney on the Dose. He had his own spot in a video shown at the Republican National Convention last September.

Valentine's Day celebrates love. Here's an image of true love of the purest kind.

Seaking of true love, here's an example of the romantic kind.

True love of the fatherly kind.

And of the motherly kind.
