Unfortunately, this is very true. The Health Food Industry has been mobilized to oppose this. It is being pushed by the Pharmacetical industry which has a lot to gain.
Vitamins supplements and the like are heavily regulated in Europe. When I lived in France, my parents sent me a care package of supplements every few months. They were unavailable.
I ask, contemplating the possibility that I might end up doing that, someday. When centralized government is strong enough, only the strongest (deepest pockets) will have government. We seem to be on an inevitable slide in that direction, able at best only to control the rate we slide down hill.
