How about a little compassion here? Alan Keyes should show a little compassion, if Dick Cheney can do it Keyes can.
I don't know the dynamics here anymore than the rest of you and I certainly don't know what I would do if I had a child that stated they were gay. I just hope that I could find a way to have relationship and not shut the door to communication.
Alan Keyes, his wife and daughter need to find a way to try and work out a way to at least speak and find some common ground.

We only get one side of the story - Her's. Perhaps there is more to this than just being gay and liberal. Maybe she wants them to embrace her lifestyle IN THEIR HOME. Kids like this can be SOOO nice when the press is talking to them, then we we learn the real story we change our opinion of these kids from poor little, left out, abused child to whiney, didn't get their way, attempting to shake down the famous parents.

I personally believe there is much more to this story.

Agreed, except: Cheney seems to think that homosexuality is a-ok. So what would he have to "forgive" or "come to terms with"? All's okay. In that respect, Keyes is closer to doing what's right. Kids should know that parents expect them to renounce homosexuality. Lots of people have done it. You can too, Maya!
