The RNC has always been sort of a cut above the DNC but Mehlman is taking us to their level by trying to make something out of that remark. I wish he hadn't. Dean is crude and rude - we don't have to be.

How is it crude and rude to point out the simple truth? I see nothing untoward in what Mehlman said.

Could NOT disagree with you more.
That you don't think Dean's comments are racist tells more about you than Mehlman.

I would normally agree with that sentiment, except that Mehlman is 100% correct. Dean's statement was an intentionally racist one. There is no other way to interpret it. He's not being misquoted or taken out of context. In fact, Dean fed himself the question and the punchline, indicating he may have been waiting to spring that little gem for a while.
At any rate, Dean tried his hand at Jesse Jackson style race baiting, but came across as the out-of-touch, lily white snob that he is. An auspicious beginning for the new DNC chairman, and hopefully the start of a long tradition.

Our mistake is that we do not fight back. Finally, the RNC is fighting back instead of rolling over and playing Mr. Nice Guy.
