The only one at risk of death in this situation was the idiot, poppy growing, loan defaulting father. He saved his own behind by selling his daughter.
He is despicable.
There is no real reason to believe that the man who bought this girl will actually marry her off to his youngest son. Maybe he will throw her in a child brothel or become her pimp. Maybe he will just use her as a household slave. There was a time in our country that both men and women believed in the concept "live free or die".

Or do you really think the father deserves some sort of medal for his actions? If so, then let me make a guess about you: You are estranged from your own offspring because they just don't understand that the things you did to them and the way you treated them was really for their own good. But they're too stubborn to understand that.
Or long term planning. We can also assume the father is merely establishing that the current wife cannot have children and the son will need one in the future. Again, we are assuming that sex follows marriage immediately.
Stories like this make me ill.

Slavery didn't begin with Islam...why should I blame Islam. You don't have to go back very far in history to see the same scene repeated in many cultures with varying religions. That doesn't mean that I find it acceptable of course.
True, Mohammed waited three whole years, until Aisha was nine, before he consummated their marriage.
Contemporary sharia law allows for marriage at the age of nine, and I can find no indication that there are any consummation restrictions on such.

this HAS been going on for eons. In Japan and other asian countries and other countries i don't know about, females have been regarded so little that daughters are sold into prostitution at a very early age.
The lack of the judeo/christian perspective creates situations like this, i believe. whether or not you embrace a personal belief in the judeo/christian doctrines, the basis of our country creates an atmosphere where all human beings are honored, men, women, and children. we are blessed in this country.

No, not a medal, but since he is only doing what is expected of him by his religion and his culture, I think your anger is misdirected. It should be directed towards his religion, Islam, which makes his daughter his slave to do with as he pleases. All Muslim men behave like he does, what makes him any worse than them?

Did you happen to notice the age of the girl? 10 is a little young for an "arranged" marriage. The man says in a couple of years he will marry her to his son. This means she will be 12 when she is married off to his son. Doesn't sound like a win-win situation to me. Plus she is a SLAVE, or didn't that occur to you?
Would that be so much worse than selling your daughter? I wonder.
I don't think she would be sold off into marriage then. The rags have to keep their brothels full.
