It's just cultural differences, you know. We shouldn't judge what we don't understand. /sarcasm

"It's just cultural differences, you know. We shouldn't judge what we don't understand."

When my anthropology teacher first taught us cultural relativism, he told us that it was a tool to understand culture objectively, and should never be used to justify evil groups/cultures like the Nazis, the Mafia, etc. He said that anyone who did so was foolish. Unfortunately, this tool has been twisted away by many liberals and used in such circumstances as: "Well, we've got nukes, why can't N. Korea have nukes?"
I think that you can say, "Don't judge what we don't understand" in reference to folks who put mayonaise on their french fries, or folks who engage in the running of the bulls. In the case of this girl being sold/given away/whatever, I think its a huge flashing sign of a diseased society, plagued by violence and lacking in values.
