The Scandal That Keeps on Giving (More Gannon stuff - Yaaaawn!)
Washington Post ^ | 2/18/05

Posted on 02/18/2005 10:24:23 AM PST by areafiftyone

The story of the phony White House reporter who called himself Jeff Gannon just gets curiouser and curiouser every day -- and shows no sign of abating.

Quite the contrary, in fact. After only occasionally burbling out of the realm of bloggers and media watchers over the past few weeks, the story exploded onto network television last night.

And after a few days in which the chatter was fixated on the salacious associations that bloggers uncovered between James D. Guckert (Gannon's real name) and gay escort Web sites, the focus is back on a serious public policy question: Why was a non-journalist asking slanted non-questions welcomed into the White House Briefing room?

If a "non-journalist" asking "slanted non-questions." is a serious public policy question;

Then;

is a "non-journalist" asking "non-slanted non-questions" a serious public policy question;

is a "non-journalist" asking "slanted questions" a serious public policy question?;

is a "non-journalist" asking "non-slanted questions." a serious public policy question?;

is a "journalist" asking "slanted non-questions" a serious public policy question?;

If only they would report honestly on the news, they might not find their polling numbers the lowest of any profession on the planet.

NEWEST BLOGGER/GANNON STUPIDITY FROM AMERICABLOG:

Gannon reportedly knew about Iraq attack four hours before it happened

A news producer for a major network just told me that Gannon told the producer the US was going to attack Iraq four hours before President Bush announced it to the nation.

ROFLMAO!!!!!

What/who tipped him off??? Was it the 300,000 troops in the mideast??? The UN resolutions????!? The Powell presentation?!? Bush's SOTU???!?

Or maybe the CNN promos for 2 months practically predicting an imminent war.

Or ... Bush's '48 hours' demand of Saddam.

I urge the Left to spend the next 20 years getting to the bottom of how Gannon managed to figure out the US plans that were oh so secretive (sarasm off) ...

You know, if they had any brains at all the last thing they would be bringing up is Monica.

Oh, wait. Never mind.

Sure you would.

Too bad you overlooked the explanation already given. The office that gives out day passes does a basic security check not a full-out background check.

But you know that already. Just like you know the Press Secretary doesn't handle that vetting.

Why did all the other reporters with day passes get them? Same reason and you already know it. The committee that handles the hard passes declined to approve Gannon for that qualification, just as they decided it for other reporters.

So sorry that "Gannon was treated extra special" spin was so quickly debunked.

The explanation has been completely clear and more than adequate.
