Middle Israel: The legacy of Eason Jordan (Breaking: "Mainstream" Media say Blogs have agenda)

Even the Promised Land's notorious early summer heat was no match for the terror attacks Israel was facing in June 2002, when this newspaper's editors met with Eason Jordan, whose illustrious career as CNN's chief news executive has now come to an abrupt end. What brought Jordan to Jerusalem back in 2002 was his network's coverage of one terror attack Continues...

================================================================

Breaking: "Mainstream" Media accuse Blogs of having agenda

They have the power to elect presidents, control politicians, inspire reactions, build you up, knock you down, highlight success, highlight failure, shape foreign policy, shape attitudes, shape culture, sway opinion, set perception, set an agenda, steer the nation, write history, alter history -- but enough about the Bloggers. With no fact-checking and no rules and no accountability and no credentials and no reflection and no research, you just can't believe anything you read in the New York Times anymore.

"After 23 years at CNN," wrote Eason Jordan in a letter to colleagues Friday announcing his decision to leave CNN and spend more time with his family, "I have decided to resign in an effort to prevent CNN from being unfairly tarnished by the controversy over conflicting accounts of my recent remarks regarding the alarming number of journalists killed in Iraq." Probably an oversight, but ol' Eason could have mentioned the alarming number of witnesses killing the alarming number of conflicting accounts he gave as to what he said at the January 27 World Economic Forum. Among the witnesses, that deranged right-winger, Rep. Barney Frank, and fellow Bush-lover, Sen. Chris Dodd. In his letter, Jordan added tearfully that his friends and colleagues "know me well enough to know I have never stated, believed or suspected that" U.S. soldiers had targeted journalists in Iraq. Just his lips playing tricks on him. Or his lips taken out of context.

In short, when boss Jonathan Klein popped the question, 'Did you say it?', Jordan said 'No way, boss!' -- so the Bloggers fired him. Yeah, sure, whatever you say, pal. Anyway, whatever your opinion about blogs, which got the ball rolling here, it's becoming increasingly clear that the salivating morons who make up the lynch mob in Old Media have slipped into a hopeless Blogmire. With no Exit Strategy.

"Bloggers as News Media Trophy Hunters," declared the impartial New York Times headline Monday, in a groundbreaking piece of research that reveals there are Blogs on the Internet. Not that there's anything wrong with Bloggers going 'Trophy hunting' -- so long as the trophy hunters adorn their walls with Trent Lott and Jeff Gannon trophy heads. That's called Enlightened Trophy Hunting. When the target is Dan Rather or Eason Jordan, clearly that's Crude and Sadistic Trophy Hunting by barbarians. "The salivating morons who make up the lynch mob prevail," said CJR Daily's normally demure and sensitive Steve Lovelady, sounding a tad unlady-like after learning of Eason's departure.

So, Dan Rather's finished (he'll be holding a 'Will Fake For Food' sign on street corners soon). Mary Mapes can't sell her credibility for scrap. Now Eason Jordan. Careers sadly slain by insurgent blogfire. America is safer since Al Gore invented the Internet.

And, in another story memory-hole-bound were it not for the 'salivating morons' in pajamas, Democrats have now discovered a 'Churchill' they can look up to: Ward Churchill, the wartime professor and Fake But Accurate American Indian white man who teaches at the University of Colorado. Democrats say they're not really fans of ol' Ward at all, insisting that nothing less than academic freedom is at stake; that all academic freedom in America would end if we denied Churchill the right to teach 'little Eichmanns' that 9/11 was a good thing and that we need more 9/11s. Either Churchill gets to say such terrifically edifying things with tax dollars, in the classroom, or else America's finished. His teachings might not be your cup of tea, but it's not like he's displaying the Ten Commandments or claiming that men and women are innately different.

"I'm not backing up an inch. I owe no one an apology," Churchill warmly told an overflow campus crowd of 1,000 cheering Democrats (you know, the party which says it stands foursquare with 9/11 families). "I think what he has to say is true and interesting," one liberal student told the AP.

Three years ago, upon hearing news that hijackers had struck the World Trade Center, Churchill promptly issued a touching 10-page statement expressing sympathy with . . . the hijackers, praising the "combat teams" who gave their all and whose "gallant sacrifices" gallantly saved the world from 3,000 suspected evil-doers working for . . . Cantor Fitzgerald and March McClennan in New York. Eager to show his sensitive side, he called these world-menacing office workers 'little Eichmanns," a reference to Adolf Eichmann, who helped carry out Adolf Hitler's "Final Solution". Among the chilling things these little Eichmanns helped carry out -- insurance services and bond trading. Of the hijackers, Adolf Churchill wrote that one could "discern a certain optimism -- it might even be called humanitarianism -- imbedded in the thinking of those who presided over the very limited actions conducted on September 11." He called the attacks "medicinal" and said America sadly got off very, very easy. Churchill, cautious fella, hesitates to call the 9/11 terrorists, *terrorists*. So, if he loses his gig, he can go work for Reuters.

So, now that this jackass is the most visible symbol of Academia, Dean the face of the Jackass Party, Eason the poster boy of Legacy Media, Dan Rather roadkill at CBS, I say Blog on, you salivating moron dudes!

;-)

Anyway, that's...
My Two Cents...

I don't think people should apologize for things they say. I actually find most public apologies condescending and pathetic. You should stand up for what you believe in and have the balls and the facts to back it.

You had me ROTFLOL so bad I woke up my mom who is 2 rooms away. First there was this:

"... it's becoming increasingly clear that the salivating morons who make up the lynch mob in Old Media have slipped into a hopeless Blogmire. With no Exit Strategy."

It got worse with this:

"So, Dan Rather's finished (he'll be holding a 'Will Fake For Food' sign on street corners soon)."

But you topped that with this:

"Ward Churchill, the wartime professor and Fake But Accurate American Indian white man ..."

Priceless!
