Paul Johnston of Middletown, Delaware is one ticked-off parent. And with good reason. As the Middletown Transcript reports, Johnston's daughter -- a student at Louis L. Redding Middle School -- came home from school last week with a propaganda booklet and magazine from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). The PETA materials, it turns out, were part of the official classroom teaching. "I thought it was totally inappropriate for something like this to even be thought of being in the curriculum," Johnston told a reporter. We couldn't agree more. The Center for Consumer Freedom has written to Dr. Sue Dutton (the principal of the young Johnston girl's school), along with the members of the local school board, asking them to reconsider putting their stamp of approval on PETA propaganda. A sampling from our letter:
The debate shouldn't be about whether animal welfare is a valuable thing to teach. No one, after all, wants to endorse cruelty to animals. But it's equally irresponsible to lend a school's imprimatur to the teachings of a group that values lab rats over human children, believes giving milk to kids constitutes "child abuse," actively recruits an "army of animal rights rebels" in and around schools, encourages children to regard their non-vegetarian parents as "murderers," and has even funded the operations of arsonists and other violent felons. Administrators in Mr. Johnston's school district will also receive copies of "Your Kids, PETA's Pawns," the Center for Consumer Freedom's report detailing PETA's plan to indoctrinate millions of American children behind their parents' backs. Skeptical? PETA activists appeared outside a Wisconsin middle school at 7:30 this morning, handing anti-chicken trading cards to young kids as they walked to school.
Parents: If your child brings home animal-rights propaganda materials (often masquerading as "humane education" booklets), drop us a note and tell us your story. We'll be happy to educate your school administrators.
Teachers and other education professionals: Printed copies of "Your Kids, PETA's Pawns" are available to you free of charge. Just let us know where to send them.
That's an excellent idea. It also provides background for a massive lawsuit againt the public school system.
PETA and other groups like them are the reason we have a rabies problem, feral dogs attacking people at airports, small animals dying halfway through their lifespans on average, due to malnourishment, disease and parasite infection and beavers clear cutting huge swaths of food and cover trees, leaving leech infested ponds and eroded wastelands behind.
Yeah, real 'humane'
I encourage all FReepers to go to PETA's website and sign up for their e-mail alerts. Not only does it hurt them by taking up computer space and resources, but we can send e-mails to those they protest. I am always telling those they attack to ignore PETA.
They went after a church in Iowa that was having a turkey dinner. I e-mailed the minister and got the nicest response back from him: "Thanks for the encouragement, we served 1,700 turkey dinners and had a great time!".
I also signed up for Robert Redford's Natural Resources Defense Fund, the Friends of Hillary, (they sent me a real great "I'm A Friend of Hillary" Bumper sticker, which I will write "NOT" on), The DNC, and my local Peace and Justice group. This way I can FReep their events with my buddies, and I am using up their resources.
Must be where they keep the soylent green. Why do they have elctricity in the building at all? Everyone knows that no matter the source, the byproduct of electricity is heat energy.
PETA would get a lot more of my support if we could use convicts instead of animals for research.
Imagine what we could cure if we did not have to transpose our findings from lower species to humans.
Those POS AIDS obsessed hypocrite liberals would never go for it but that's too bad because AIDS would be a thing of the past within a few years if we could.
I am an animal researcher so I know what of I speak. Sorry - I know this is off the topic of the article a bit but had to get it in.
ALF is a terrorist group who used bombs, while PETA is merely radical and irresponsible. Their latest campaign is to end......fishing.
Is there any proof they are the Sinn Fein of ALF?
That was a damn good episode of BS. Its out on video now, you can rent in at blockbuster.
PETA is filled with sick, sick, sick people. I don't want them anywhere near ANY kid! The article doesn't mention, but these are the same twisted wackjobs that gave out toy crowns at Burger King that showed animals impaled on the crown's spikes and blood dripping out-- gave them to KIDS!!!
Gahhh!
This father should be given a medal for fighting these "people". In our SCHOOLS? They should be allowed on our STREETS!
Sorry, "should" was supposed to be "shouldn't"
PETA is to ALF what A.N.S.W.E.R. is to al Qaeda. Same principle members and supporters; the psyops arm of their b@stard militancy.
I recall reading about that attack. I don't recall all the details. Wasn't it poplars you were researching?
A few years back the FBI had an excellent agent working these eco-terror events out of Portland OR. He was pulling in some big cases and sending these witless thugs to prison. Then he retired.
Before the arson, did David Foreman or Bruce Babbett visit the campus? I ask because these two socialist thugs showed up at a campus nearby, and a month later eco-fascists tried to bomb the forestry department.
Spiritual father of PETA?
who else but the worlds most famous animal loving vegetarian-
ADOLF HITLER

Cake Crumb, I mean substantial evidence. We've had people say mainstream anti-abortion folks are connected to abortion doctor killers, and that the Sierra Club is the legal arm for militant groups who share their cause. Just because a group holds views you disagree with doesn't mean they are terrorists.
Try Activist Cash.com a great resource for finding out the affiliations and sources of funding for a LOT of "activist" groups. After choosing "People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals", you will discover links to more details on certain less than savory aspects of the organizations and an overview of the organization itself. On the right side of the page you will see a partial list of links to the organizations alias websites.
There is a considerable amount of confirmable reading on them.
No wonder these kids can't get a passing grade on their tests. They are spending too much time with this PETA garbage nonsense.
During all the debates leading to HFI, we in the East caught the attention of Pacific ELF. They torched a forestry department research building (which researches ways to PRESERVE and PROTECT animal and herbiforous species), then torched a few million $$$ worth of heavy equipment used for building a highway in Erie County. One wit was wandering up central PA and into Central NY, lighting forest fires. He was caught.
When we got the word out to all local loggers in PA and NY to be on the lookout for treehuggers and take note of their descriptions and license plate numbers, they moved south to etch the windows of fast food chains and SUVs in VA. The fact that winter was approaching might have had something to do with that, too.
I'm thrilled that the FBI has become extremely interested in these domestic terrorist cells, but WISH they'd stop acting as though they organise themselves differently from say, Ansaar just because they're white and say that trees are prople.
I've studies Mideast terrorism for 30 years. I see no difference in the organizational structure any successful terrorist group, no matter what theyir alleged objectives. The keyword is "successful". They go with what works. Arab terrosim works. Even the IRA learned a thing or 6 in placed like Lebanon while allying with groups like Hezbollah.
