Gannon's Enemies List
MSNBC Newsweek ^ | 2/20/05

Posted on 02/20/2005 5:49:36 AM PST by areafiftyone

Jeff Gannon is considering suing liberal interest groups, bloggers and others for a "political assassination" that drove him from his job as a reporter for a conservative news outfit called Talon News, he told NEWSWEEK. Gannon, whose real name is James Guckert, singled out Media Matters—a "well-funded" liberal group headed by longtime "attack dog" David Brock. ("Everything we wrote about him came from the public record," Brock replied.)

Brock is just upset that Gannon never asked him out on a date. Guess Brock will have to content himself with intimate lunches with Sid Vicious Blumenthal.

Don't sell your body on the internet, and then whine when somebody sees.

I don't think this is going to have legs.

But it'll be fun to watch.

Actually this is not really a good thing. This might bring the story out more into the MSM.

I hope this story gets more legs in the MSM. It makes the Dems pursuing it look thoroughly unhinged. They are foaming at the mouth because a reporter dared to be a Republican (gasp!) AND that he was... GAY (Eek!). Everyone not a rabid Dem looks at it and says "so what?" They're second statement is, "these Dems are crazy!"

Pathetically Cosmic Comedy at Kos

A Kos Kid is connecting the dots and abusing the punctuation, in one of the best Daily Kos posts ever: Gannon scoop shows White House Forged TANG/CBS memos?!?! (Hat tip: Tim Blair.)

It now appears that Jeff Gannon could be the thread that unravels the real story behind the TANG/CBS forgeries. I have put together a case here that if looked at carefully by the blogosphere would show that the TANG forgeries were made by the White House, probably Dan Bartlett, and then given to Bill Burkett by a former associate of Karl Rove, Roger Stone. Stone’s wife, Nydia, who is Cuban, was most likely the Hispanic lady on the phone who convinced Burkett the documents were real and that he should burn them after copying them to protect her honor.

How could we have been so blind?!?!

(For your amusement)

"Everything we wrote about him came from the public record," Brock replied.

That doesn't matter. The 'discovery' phase of such a trial could be illuminating in its own right. Who, precisely, is funding Media Matters? Who was David Brock in touch with as this "kerfuffle" unfolded (so to speak)?

Inquiring minds want to know.

While I appreciate that thought, that is not what is happening. He is not whining about someone seeing him on the Internet. He is looking at legal action for an attack that caused him to lose his gainful employment.

Prostitution or running an "escort service" is illegal. Any employer would be fully within their rights to fire a worker who was working as a prostitute on the side, which is exactly what "Jeff Gannon" was doing.

I am amazed how many posters on here seem to have forgotten about any sort of moral standards. I don't think that being gay should have impacted his employment status, but being a prostitute is an entirely different matter.

Hmmmm. He's considering suing liberal interest groups? Bloggers? How exactly do you sue someone for whispering gossip or throwing in his or her two cents on an issue? And good heavens, isn't it gossip or hints from one person to another that fuel the digging deeper into MOST stories, regardless of the topic?

Maybe those who have such volatile skeletons in their closets should be a little more low-key and hog the spotlight a little less. (No offense, Jeff/James.)

Oh, and a reminder to us all: the internet is public access. If you put it anywhere on the net, it can be found by those who want to find it. That goes for personal information as well as photos. So if you don't want to be exposed, don't expose yourself.
