What's so especially disgusting about the president's opportunistic deployment of gay-bashing for political purposes is that, by all accounts and evidence, he doesn't believe a word of it. On the tapes, Bush is a "closet tolerant" who knows perfectly well that what he is doing is wrong.
When I meet people who, out of sincere conviction (usually religious) believe homosexuality is sinful and that public policy ought to be deployed to prevent this sinful behavior, I disagree with them, but understand that this sort of deep moral disagreement rooted in faith is a part of life.
When you see someone who knows perfectly well that the view he's adopted for political purposes is wrong, but who adopts it anyway out of cyncial thirst for power, well, then, that's just totally disgusting.

Let's have chapter and verse of some factual basis for the charges you've made! Otherwise, shut your pie-hole and take your rubbish to another site!

I might have been a bit harsh with my comments to your post, let me just say this. If you really believe what you wrote, then you don't know much about Christians, sinners, and forgiveness.

You are in error. Bush is quoted as equating gay marriage with special privilege - that is quite another matter from being a "closet tolerant." There's nothing closeted about Bush's tolerance, it simply has limits. In point of fact, gay marriage is not the sine qua non of gay rights, it has simply become the latest in a long list of non-negotiable items, disagreement with which brands one as an irredeemable Nazi in the eyes of ideologues.
