No. Liberals and unions have ruined Los Angeles schools.

Let's be fair: I amsure they were well on their way to being ruined before the children of illegals started attending school in significant numbers.

And I'll bet those Negro children spoke English, didn't they?

A definite YES.

American children are being pushed aside while the teachers struggle to teach non-English speakers. Any California elementary and middle school teacher will tell you this is true. Most of the non-English speakers drop out of high school and "take the jobs Americans won't do".

Racism is racism

Most of us enjoy liberal commentary on this form. I certainly do. But ...

Just how do prejudices based on cultural and geopolitical differences equate to racism?

Let me guess. Any prejudices, good or bad, must certainly be evil and therefore they are racially motivated, even between antagonists of the same race.

Are you talking about the differences between blacka and Anglos or Hispanics and Anglos?

Strange how terms not associated with race show up in this query. The term blacka (sp?) is a reference to skin color and both the terms Anglos and Hispanics are references to either geopolitics or culture.

Yes, I was amused by the ignorance indicated when the term racism is applied to prejudices between one group of Caucasoids (Anglos) and another group of Caucasoids (Hispanics).

I shouldn't be. It's a refined, well tested gambit of the left that's been around forever. Use the race card whenever possible even if it dosen't fit. After all, it's the seriousness of the intention of the crime that matters, not the actual harm.

Definitions don't excuse racism. Do you teach your children that it's OK to make mean-spirited hateful statements about Hispanics because they aren't technically a separate race? Does your employer accept your excuse. Why try to bring FR down to the level of white supremacists websites?

Now, now, you're both right, IMHO! The teacher unions that run the schools allow children who aren't proficient at one grade to pass easily to the next. And the majority of those that don't reach proficiency are illegals. They work together to bring down our schools.

Now I see why so many LAers are willing to move here to Bakersfield and commute at least an hour each way. But the bad news is that less and less of our school are worth going too, also.

When looking for a school for my son to go to, I looked at all the numbers the author did (and he explained it very well). But, it got overwhelming, so I narrowed it down to one factor: parental income. The higher the number of students receiving free or reduced lunches, the worse the test scores were. I imagine that not speaking English at home factors into a low parental income as well. But, conversely, we have several schools in a predominantly white area that is low income, and their test scores are very low too. The attitude of the parents is what affects the children.

To return to the subject, how did taxpayers get stuck paying for illegals to go to our schools anyway? They should never have been allowed to register for any school in the US!

Go to the illegal immigration section of my website and see the article about Prop. 187.

And I voted for the anti-bilinqual proposition, not knowing it counteracted the education part of 187. Darn...

Good catch - I'll be checking your website next time there's an election!
