I understand that one objective of the Kyoto Treaty is to have the global temperature drop by .04 degree by the year 2100. Can anyone else corroborate this piece of info?

How will we know if it works?

Interesting. The text of the Kyoto Protocal does not claim that the climate is changing or that anthropogenic CO2 has any way affected the climate.

Yes, a "predicted" .04 degrees Cesius in the year 2100. And that's WITH the U.S. on board.

According to Kyoto, if the treaty is "sucessful" the temperature rise will be delayed by six years - in other words, the temperature would be the same as it was six years earlier without Kyoto.

Even its supporters admit its a "symbolic" effort. And that's assuming they're right about human effect, CO2 effect and so on, which is not borne out in actual scientific data.

Another huge If: No one knows whether the greenhouse effect results in more cloud cover or less. Clouds have a much larger effect on temperature.

I think its an important point in debate that you've identified: Kyoto will NOT stop, cure, fix global warming (even if you buy their bogus science.)
