I have a veterinary book at home (the states) that suggests clorine bleach smells like cat semen (sorry). Bleach smell can cause a cat to react in an unusual manner from aggressive to horny.Meow so horny...

Sounds like the cat got into something in the basement. Makes you want to go check your basement for kitty hooch. Our cat weighs a lot more than 8lbs.
