After "300 years in a convent and 50 years in Hollywood," I can't imagine why the people of the Philippines would want to have anything to do with the idiotic circus we like to call Washington D.C.

No more states. We still have to figure out how to give Puerto Rico back to Spain and Massachusetts back to England. ;)

Screw it, let's go for 72 stars. A nice, even 9x8. We get 2 with Puerto Rico and the Phillipines. It should be no problem coming up with 20 more from Canada, Mexico and some Caribbean islands.

Kick it into the sea, flatten the whole of Boston, turn it into a massive internment camp, I really don't care, but please don't make us have it back.

This will happen right after Mexico, Puerto Rico, Cuba, and Viet Nam become states. I have spent a lot of time in the Philippines and love the Filipino people. I once ran for Mayor of Subic City. The Filipinos will never vote for statehood.

Make it seven. At least 0’Dumbo will have been right once, assuming he’s been there.

Did you notice how old the thread was?

It’s not likely we will have just a 51st state. From now on out, I think they will come in pairs, i.e., PR/DC. Neither side will admit a state where the other party dominates.
