How many children do you have that are 13- 16? None? I didn't think so.
The only thing new about this garbage is that the "Hollyweirds" are helping out with the phase.
As a father of 4 boys and one girl, all of whom are over 35 years of age, I can tell you this is but one aspect of maturation and discovery.
I was standing in line to buy movie tickets, and as we approached the booth, I could see the kid who was selling tickets.
He was the kind of unfortunate being that most of us went through in adolescence, kind of gawky, pimply, glasses, etc.
As I got closer, I could see this poor kid had some kind of medical condition, and had these metal things on various parts of his face, covering his lips, nose, cheeks, eyebrows and such. I had no idea what they did, but apparently they were there to aid in recovery of some kind of extensive surgical procedure. I felt really sorry for this kid.
Then, when I got up close, I could see they were all piercings. Covering his whole upper lip, multiple small rings, in his nose, eyebrows, etc.
I have to tell you, I was really irritated. I felt like I had just expended some kind of energy feeling bad about this "poor kid".
I guess maybe I should still have felt bad for him.
Child labor has some benefits and this is it- no time for TV, no time for peer pressure or feeling sorry for one's self, and Dad was too tough a guy to put up with our music so we had to listen to his radio programming, and that meant baseball in summer and talk radio in winter. Drawing attention to yourself by doing something stupid wasn't a good idea as it made the folks think you probably need something more to do. If we wanted attention so badly it would be easier to get it from the folks by doing something constructive or at least suprisingly nice to get some personal time with them for talking things over, while some nutty self centered act would only get rejection and more time stuck out somewhere working solo. Pulling crap like this would have been inconcievable. If we'd even thought of something as stupid as this there's be no talk and Dad would probably start by having us dig up the drain feild and tank whether -it needed it or not- so we could clean it up with a spoon, or some such thing.
And it seems to be getting worse by the day. It's downright depressing at times.
People have been doing this for years and years. It is an attention seeking device for the numb.
I see people who do this up to the age of 60. It is a dramatic way of saying I hurt.
Focus on the psych issues and not the blood.
It's not a crisis until the kids do something really tortuous like pull panties over their heads.
Once again, what used to be the realm of the mentally ill has become the norm. I went out with someone years ago who did this to herself. She ended up in a mental hospital. It is no joke, and it is depraved that Hollywood scum is making it trendy to the impressionable.
Christina Ricci, who at a relatively early age was playing "Wednesday" in the "Addams Family" movies, may have let the part of the character take over too much of her own personality. This explains exactly nothing, of course, but there is a dangerous tendency for many in the acting profession (if it may be called that) to assume traits of the parts they play. Or perhaps they play the parts so well because they are acting out their own internal motivations.
A whole generation of "emo" kids may be coming along. They become addicts, not to exogenous drugs, but to their own body's endorphins.
A neighbor is a high school teacher of long standing. A student, bright but the black lipstick, black clothes, white face makeup, suicide threats, violent to others, spoiled rich JAP.....cut up her arms legs etc outside of school....no one reported the issue.... fifth period this teacher reported the observation to Guidance, who sent in the school psychologist to interview the TEACHER and tried to have her fired for not preventing ( read; for reporting this) the mutilation which was known by every kid to have taken place at a hangout before school
Leftist Admin and Ed Schools are the reason the entire public school system should be flushed
