Just imagine the reaction he'll have when his two year old nephew grabs his glasses and gives a good yank!

Already thought of. Newer models will have magnetically attached tear-off frames.

Ohhhh yeah....what next? Bras that hook on to your nipple piercing?

It's sort-of been done. I don't think I could post pics here though.

I was just talking to a friend about our eyeglasses last week after I broke the temple of my glasses for the umpteenth time. We both live in our glasses...last thing off at night and first thing on in the morning...so why do they need a joint at the temple (where it always fails or you lose the screw)? Mine are never folded, even on the bedside table at night. Cases could be designed for the glasses to be placed in them always being open for people who do store them.

Why not design them without a joint at the temple? Hmmm...

Or get a pair like mine, Lindberg titanium. The whole frame is made of three titanium wires, practically unbreakable. There are no screws to lose since the hinges are made by wrapping the titanium wires around each other. Best thing is, the frame weighs only three grams (0.1 ounces).

I bet you paid a pretty penny for them. I looked at them when I replaced my glasses last week. Nice. I just couldn't justify the cost since I needed new sunglasses too.

They weren't cheap by any measure, but they did come with custom sunglass clips. I figured they would be less expensive than replacing regular glasses every year because the kids broke them.
