"as MUCH as one-third of the students are learning English as a second language."
Yeah, let's hope their teachers lern'em good. specially 'bout the difference between "much" and "many", and countable and uncountable nouns.
Thanks! I'll see you on grellis thread tomorrow?
Saw this already.
I agree with Cyborg who found it interesting that they put a racist slant on it rather than an overcrowding problem.
Wonder how the reporter knows they are "often" illegal?
Let's say it's the same situation and they're legal citizens. People move because they think the schools are being dumbed down? What's the answer?
Reading about this makes me wonder something I never thought about before since my state of Texas is on an international border subject to federal border enforcement - or lack thereof. State agencies police state borders from a crops and plant quarantine stand point (and I'm talking plants traveling from state to state ) so why couldn't states like Nebraska police their borders for illegals trying to get into the state?
Funny, I don't see a racist spin. Perhaps I need Laser vision then....
I'm referring to the way the parents are being portrayed... sorry for the confusion.
They're just "studying" the textbooks that American kids won't study.
Two words: Home School.
Ping
I am hoping I will be able to sleep tonight so that I can get to the "Table" in the morning.
Homeschool to...
to keep your kids away from class overcrowding, drugs, bullies, liberal social gobblygook, and horney teachers.
Watch for new subdivisions sprouting up in the outlying communities. That is what happened when forced busing was the rule back in the 70s in my area of the South.
What's a subdivision?
I think it's time for lawmakers to realize that they cannot force citizens to accept illegal immigration in our communities. If parents want to pull their children out of schools that they feel do not benefit their children then that is their right. Maybe this will send a message to the lame brains who legislate.
Subdividing lots meant for one house?
I have a bit of advice for these lawmakers. Make an effort to discourage illegal aliens from coming into your state and let the citizens of Nebraska live were they want.
Subdividing raw land into individual building lots. (creating a new residential neighborhood)
How about levying an "Illegal Alien Education Tax" on every meat-packing plant employer of $5,000,000 per school term? Why should the other taxpayers subsidize these packers by paying the bills for their illegal labor? And then the state thinks they can force white kids to go to school with kids that never went to school in Mexico and are illiterate in two languages? It's time for this ridiculous garbage to stop.
I hope to see you there {{BTB}}
