you know this got me thinking.. i think it is time we brought back the term radical republicans. the radical republicans of old were motivated by religion to liberate people who were enslaved much the same way we liberate enslaved peoples today. It would also give liberal school teachers a heart attack because most tell students learning about the civil war that republican is really a democrat (!!) and democrats are really republicans so their party does not look bad supporting slavery.

I've had a few people tell me that they are Democrats who are forced to vote Republican because of the way their party has gone off the deep end. Let's hope they keep jumping!!!

Well written, to the point and she brings up things that I have been frustrated about with the DU but she puts it eloquently.

Welcome to the party.

My epiphany (change) to conservative thinking came when I finally got cable TV in NYC around 1988. I started watching C-SPAN and thought it was great. I began to realize that what Pete, Dan and Tom (Pete & the Repeats) were showing on the nightly news (where most Americans got their news) was an edited version of what was really happening in the Congress. They would show snippets of a Maxine Waters speech
that made her look good when in reality she was a raving lunatic. The light went "on" that I was being lied to, and I haven't been the same since. Thankfully!

Plus unlike the moonbats I gotta get to work!

Ha! Reminds me of the first sentence in How To Talk To A Liberal (If You Must): (paraphrasing) The best way to convert a liberal is to get them employed, moved out of their parents home and start paying taxes.

How sadly, sadly true...

The Islamists have been clear all along about their plans to form an Islamic caliphate and inhabit the entire world with burqas, stonings, amputations, honor killings and a lack of religious and political freedom. Whether or not to oppose such a movement should have been a no-brainer, especially for self-proclaimed "progressives." Instead, they have extended their misguided sympathies to tyrants and terrorists.

I went from voting for Ralph Nader in 2000 to proudly casting my ballot for George W. Bush in 2004. This doesn't necessarily mean that I agree with Bush on every issue, but there is enough common ground to support his party overall.

Welcome to the GOP...neither do we agree with every issue. Unlike the Democrats, we argue, debate and even fight each other in the arena of ideas. Democrats just walk in rhetorical lockstep.

I don't mean to be obtuse or argumentative here, but I wonder how you can identify with a party that you clearly believe isn't operating in your best interests...

Please read the post, the key word is considered, as in I not longer feel this way and your question is precisely why I went Republican ... they are NOT working in my best interests.

Wow. This is a terrific piece- heartfelt description. She and Christopher Hitchens would find much common ground.

Thanks for the post...

Thanks for the ping.....can't tell you how many people I've sent this to (liberals AND conservatives)! I've gotten reponses from some of them that they are passing it along too. She speaks for a lot of people, and hopefully she'll convert others like her who never took the time to think for themselves! Who'd have thought you'd ever see something like this in the San Francisco Chron! Finally some company for Debra Saunders!
