Super-HIV man had sex with 100
NY Daily News ^ | 2/25/05 | Paul H.B. Shin

BOSTON - The New York man who sparked fears of a powerful new strain of HIV had drug-fueled, unprotected sex with more than 100 men in the months before his diagnosis, a top researcher said yesterday.

Dr. David Ho of the Aaron Diamond AIDS Research Center in Manhattan will unveil today a case study of the unidentified man, who his team believes may harbor a mutant strain of the deadly virus.

Skeptical AIDS researchers from around the world believe the case is isolated and not the beginning of a new epidemic.

In a preview of the study, Ho said the new strain is resistant to 19 of 20 drugs used to fight the HIV virus and becomes full-blown AIDS in months, not years. The development led city health officials to send out a dire warning earlier this month.

"We don't know if this is an isolated case or if there are more cases out there," Ho told the Daily News.

The victim, who's in his mid-40s, participated in wild orgies fueled by crystal meth before becoming sick, Ho said.

City Health Commissioner Thomas Frieden said yesterday health workers have been "working to identify [the man's] sexual partners, and urge them to be tested."

But he declined to say how many of those partners they'd been able to reach.

Despite the fears of a superbug, other experts have pointed out that rapid progression of HIV is not new, nor is resistance to multiple drugs.

Instead of being a new strain, the virus could have rapidly developed into full-blown AIDS because of something unique to the patient, said Dr. Douglas Richman of University of California at San Diego.

But even officials at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have acknowledged the case is alarming.

How long will it be before Democrats are demanding an investigation into this, since we know Karl Rove place this man in New York's(Blue State) Gay Community and forced him to have unprotected sex. They know to that Rove did not work alone and had help from Cheney and Haliburton.

"So sad. These people are crying out for help!!"

How do you figure that? These people have a death wish and I wish we would put them all in a place, Alcatraz works for me, and allow them to screw and snort meth until they expire.

I'm a heterosexual male that contracted a viral infection because of a blood transfusion from dirty blood products. This type of permissive attitude from our health experts have shortened my life.

The tuberculosis out break of the '40's resulted in infected people being sent to a special hospital until they either recovered or died. We should have done this with HIV & hepatitis C carriers long ago.

A little hysteria and a killer bug

by Wesley Pruden

Discrimination is the great killer of our times. You could ask the bungee jumpers who have died of exceedingly brief but really severe headaches.

Thoughtless manufacturers obviously made the rope too long. Or maybe it was the discriminating bridge builders who could have saved these lives if they had built the bridge only a few feet higher.

Discrimination of a similar sort continues to kill homosexual men. We have the word of an AIDS support group in New York City, which is upset that municipal health officials in Manhattan went public with their fears of a new strain of HIV that appears to be impervious to drugs, and kills quickly.

The announcement has frightened many homosexual men, who may now be too scared to indulge in "unprotected" anal sex and powerful illegal drugs they say enhance their deadly sexual practices.

The link between the killer strain and the use of crystal methamphetamine, or "crystal meth," is unproven, says the Community HIV/AIDS Mobilization Project, and the city ignored the "underlying issues" behind the spread of the virus, like discrimination, poor housing and unemployment. (Personal irresponsibility has nothing to do with it.)

"Rather than increasing awareness of the risks of unsafe sex and crystal use, the Health Department risks stigmatizing gay men as crazed drug addicts carelessly or wantonly spreading the killer bug. In this case, the Health Department seems to offer little to the understanding of the root causes and potential solutions to drug use apart from the discredited strategy of Nancy Reagan, 'just say no.' "

You might think that engaging in unprotected anal sex (the actual root cause of HIV infection) would be just as lethal with a gay CEO in a million-dollar mansion as with a bum in a hovel. But there's very little logic in politically correct discussions of AIDS.

Dr. Thomas R. Frieden, the city's health commissioner, was accused by "gay activists" of trying to frighten homosexual men into practicing safe sex, so called, and naturally he soon started the usual round of serial denials and apologies. Anywhere but in America, circa 2005, a public-health officer trying to protect the citizens against deadly disease would be regarded as merely doing his job.

. . .

"But he declined to say how many of those partners they'd been able to reach."

Gee, maybe that's because the degenerate doesn't know any of the people he had sex with. Out of 100 people, I bet the number of people he actually knows is about... five.

And homosexuals have the nerve to talk about the institution of marriage.

The traditional public health approach to a disease like AIDs would -- think TB -- would have been to isolate those who have the disease to prevent its spread. That should have been done in the 1980s, but wasnt' because of nascent political correctness and the powerful homosexual constituency in the Democratic party. It should be done now. Anyone identifed with HIV should be sent to live in a sanitarium in an isolated place. If you isolate those with the disease, you can control its spread. This is especially true of a disease that is spread almost entirely by voluntary behavior.

Yeah, let's spend another 120 billion dollars on AIDS (now super AIDS) research/therapy instead of $1 million on basic public health and quarantine measures, as we would treat any other illness. The money completely wasted on AIDS and HIV therapy for the promicuous homosexual mafia could have paid for private health insurance for all uninsured in America.
