Possible Suspect Questioned in BTK Serial Killer Case
Police Search Home That May Be Linked to Case
By RICHARD ESPOSITO
Feb. 25, 2005 Police are questioning a possible suspect in the BTK serial killer case that has terrorized Wichita, Kan., for decades, ABC News has learned.
The person, who was taken into custody at about noon today, has not been charged in the case.
BTK the nickname, which the killer coined, stands for Bind, Torture, Kill has been linked to eight unsolved homicides that occurred in Wichita between 1974 and 1986.
The killer remained silent for 25 years until last March, when authorities believe he sent The Wichita Eagle a letter that detailed an unsolved 1986 slaying and contained the victim's driver's license and photos of her body. BTK has since sent various letters to police and the media that have been authenticated by the FBI.
ABC News has learned that along with this significant development in the BTK serial killer case, a search is under way of a home in Park City, north of Wichita, that also may be linked to the killer.
Although investigators had no confirmation yet that the person being questioned is in fact the killer, police do say they are questioning "a person of interest" and that person is clearly being treated as suspect. Additional law enforcement sources say this person is one who is a very strong suspect.
However, investigators are expected to proceed carefully in their investigation. They have been flooded with false leads over the years and want to make sure that no mistakes are made as they try to bring a decades-old manhunt to a conclusion.
He is the President of a Church (whatever that means) married, father, and dog catcher.
On Fox,too. He is one of the town's dog catchers they said.
Don't get your hopes up. I live in Wichita, and they have "shocking new developments" every week. They had a person of interest a couple of months ago, they blew it out of proportion, national media showed up, they searched the guy's house, and now I think he is suing because of all the damage done to his reputation.
Don't get me wrong. I hope they have the guy. I just don't trust these reporters to get anything right. They always go for the sensationalist angle, and they rarely have anything.
Why did I even ask.....LOL!
Dog Catcher Explains the "Bind" part, maybe
OK. Like your tagline. How can some support a family as a dogcatcher?
According to Fox the police have announced a news conference for 10am and they've named it a "BTK" conference.
The FBI is also involved so maybe they're confident.
CNN is saying that they are confident.
They said he is a head of a church. whatever that means
Did he ever live in the Bay Area...(Zodiac)

Bloggers over at Kansas.com are saying there's some connection to this church: http://www.christ-lutheran.org/people/
Thanks for all your efforts...I want to toss out something..and first, up front, I have NO, ZERO, NADA, ZILCH knowledge of criminal profiling, but I did sleep through a freshman psychology course in 1964.....if, for whatever reason, he wants to get caught, the behavior of this guy, a master manipulator.. would suggest that he would first turn himself in at a TV station..give them a whole bunch of interviews....then arrange to have them document his surrender to the police...
you have MAJOR FReepmail
I am searching on that name, but have not come up with anything thus far.

Did anyone see the neighbor of the suspect on Greta?
No, I rarely can stomach Greta. What did he say, the guy was a great neighbor who he couldn't imagine was the killer?
If I recall he said the guy and his wife were very nice people. He lives across the street from them .I think he said BTK worked for the parks dept.
