Hmmm.. Maybe the United Nations should have a conference about a plan to discuss a meeting to schedule a discussion about a sit-down to talk about planning to meet about a planned plan to evaluate the prospects of possibly meeting about a decision regarding the issuing of a resolution declaring that the situation in Darfur is a bad thing.

I have followed closely the situation in the Sudan and things in Darfur are getting critical. It is not a shortage of food.It is the difficulty of getting it distributed.
The situation in Southern Sudan is improving thanks to a peace treaty signed between the SPLA/SPLM in December and kudos to Ambassador Danforth for that. The Security Council has only met 4 times outside of NYC and Danforth got them to meet in Kenya late last year to focus on the Sudan.(I believe the US arranged for transportation)Southern Sudan has a large Christian population that is primarily Anglican. The UN will not label Darfur genocide because if they do then it must intervene according to a 1948 treaty.(the US also signed and that is why Clinton never called Rwanda genocide until it was too late)The African Union does not want UN peacekeeping troops expanded(if they could even do the job) so the situation just keeps getting more desperate.
If you want a real horror story read about the French,Belgium and unfortunately US roles in the Rwanda genocide.I have spent much time with African Christians and they are the most Godly ,wondrous and remarkable people. They in many ways are forgotten,as are the poor victims in Darfur.
