Dude, restrain yourself. Whittaker Chambers is not News/Current Events. The fact that communism is mentioned briefly doesn't make it a Philosophy thread. It's not a friggin' editorial (those are items written by the EDITORS of the newspaper), it's not FRONT PAGE NEWS (because it's not NEWS, see above, and even then FPN only applies to IMPORTANT news). It's not about our government all that much, and it's not about crime/corruption. It's not about business/economy, and it's not about our constitution or fundamental principles of conservatism.
At best you can claim "culture/society," because that's such a nebulous topic.

Hey Dude: Sowell is a great writer and exposes many things wrong with this country that we would not otherwise learn about. Sowell used this example of Chambers and Hiss to explain to "us dummies" what really goes on in the media and academica today....
Buddy, this old geezer has been there and done that... I well remember how Whittaker Chambers proved his charges against Hiss.... guess how?? By having hidden secret documents stolen from the State Department by Hiss in of all things, pumpkins on his farm.....
This was all part of McCarthy's relentless drive to get communists out of our government. McCarthy was villified by the press and academia and the leftists across the country..... HOWEVER, after the release of the KGB secret files called the VENONA PAPERS, hISS, AND MANY OTHER AMERICAN COMMLUNISSTS IN GOVERNMENT WERE EXPOSED..... thereby proving Hiss to be a spy.... and Chambers and McCarthy to be heroes....
