Fred Smith and Richard Stevens introduce Taxpayer Protection Act

“Republicans in General Assembly Unite Behind Legislation”

“Ten years ago Republicans signed a contract with the people of North Carolina to institute a Taxpayer Protection Act.," Smith said.

“The General Assembly must change the way it operates. We should not be asking “Where do we get more revenue”… We should be setting priorities,” Smith said.

“For far too long our fiscal house has not been in order. I am asking the Governor and the Democratic leadership to cross the aisle and to work with us in passing this legislation. It's time we put partisanship aside and get to work for the citizens of North Carolina.”
