A solid conversation, though when Neuwirth calls Debka "usually reliable" she loses a certain amount of credibility.

I agree that it's generally solid, but I find it telling that Baehr really is unable to proffer solid arguments why the disengagement is a good thing. Instead, he is reduced to arguing stoutly that it was developed by Sharon in good faith. If this is the best that can be said about it, that's pretty feeble.

I generally believe Debka as well as Neuwirth. I know that it is "common wisdom" that Debka is hysterical and inaccurate, that many people here make fun of it, and that some of its stories have not panned out. Many critically-important stories have proved correct, though, sometimes months or years after first posted on Debka.

Israel is pursuing a suicidal course that may well cause the state to collapse, and place its five-million-plus Jewish inhabitants at the mercy of Arab enemies who mean them no good. To put the matter bluntly, a second Jewish Holocaust, only sixty to seventy years after Holocaust I, may be in the offing in the not-too-distant future.

I did not get past this paragraph, as it is complete and utter nonsense.

Baehr and you lose the debate because even when the security fence is completed, they still have to deal with incoming Rocket attacks. The Bush administration opposes the Wall for various reasons, such as it cuts into so called "Palestinian territory", or because it prevents Palestinians from entering Israel.

If Israel were to do what the Bush Administration wants their would be no Israel left. This is not peace because if if Jews cannot live in Gaza and the West Bank then the hatred is still their. If Jew cannot live in the new "Palestine" then why should Muslims live in Israel. And why should Israel risk suicide bombings just to make life easier for the so called "Palestinians", who anyway live under a corrupt government and will always be in economic decay.

As usual you will respond with the ususal International solidarity talking points. Deep Down inside though you just seek the destruction of Israel for your own twisted reasons.

Bush has flip flopped or just needs another trip to Israel.

Bush was said to have been deeply impressed by Israel's constrained topography. He later told an American Israel Public Affairs Committee conference that, in Texas, some driveways are longer than Israel is wide. Bush was obviously moved by what he saw, describing it in his autobiography as "an incredible experience.

A lady popped up and said, "I need to visit with you Governor. I want to talk about the human dimension of what its like to live in the Golan Heights and, oh by the way, I was born in Laredo, Texas." This caught my attention and we had a long visit there on a mountaintop in northern Israel listening to this lady talk about life in a kibbutz. She was been living in the kibbutz for about twenty years. She heard the nationalistic call, moved to Israel her, and husband is now one of the larger avacodo growers in northern Israel but it was really interesting to hear the human side of what it's like to love a country as much as she does and yet have the concerns about living so close to a border of a nation that often posted a real threat to their way of life.

It's just like the Panama Canal. We built it, we developed it, we should have kept it.
Of course, we signed a treaty with the Panamanians first...

We can all dispute the WH on immigration, SS, and tax reform, but we Jews better stay in line with this foreign policy stuff or we are all traitors?
I'd agree that "dual loyalty" shouldn't be an issue here since a majority of Israelis support disengagement.

Rocket launchers are easier to track than suicide bomb factories, don't you think?

President Bush has Israel's security in mind. Our continuing support proves this. His point is that a Palestinian state in the West Bank and Gaza increases the likelihood of peace. The fact that the large majority of the settlers living away from the Green Line are there to try to prevent this state should be taken into account as well.

First off who says the suicide bombings will stop?

Whenever the Peace Mongerers have their way the suicide bombings begin.

Bush is against the wall and wants Israel to make it easier for suicide bombers to come in.

As for Rocket Launchers under the peace plan Israel cannot track but has to rely on the PA who are helping them.

Richard Baehr has no facts, and I cringe when I hear the dual loyalty issue raised...We can all dispute the WH on immigration, SS, and tax reform, but we Jews better stay in line with this foreign policy stuff or we are all traitors?...EXCUSE ME?

Yeah, that's a staple of both sides of the political spectrum.
