Wow, Sicilyan. Must be really authentic.

In New Haven (where the locals claim the pizza was invented), the best pizzerias are still run by Italians, but there are also some excellent pizzerias run by Greeks. They had one-stop shopping for great Italian-style pizza, Greek-style gyros and Lebanese-style stuffed grape leaves.

Darn, it's a Friday during lent. I'll have to wait until tomorrow to relive those days.

All the pizzerias in Chicago, and many here in Seattle (!) are run by Greeks.

Sadly, the only places in NY where you can still find pizza made by Italians is in the outer boroughs and suburbia (the places in Manhattan are owned by Greeks, Albanians and Arabs, but staffed with Mexicans).

BTW: Pizza was invented in Naples. The original pizza, however, was tomatoes, basil, and garlic. Cheese was added a few years later.

Oldest Pizzeria in America is Lombardi's on Spring Street in Manhattan. The places on Wooster street in New Haven are still pretty good, though.
