printing off for future use.

but sadly, socialists don't care about economic losses, rights of property owners, freedoms, liberty, etc. it's all about a communist control mind set. period. more laws.... more enforcers, more taxes to pay the enforcers etc.

I concur! Thanks David & Michael.
Their work seems more investigative & scientific than say, sitting on your keester in an office, deciding what you want the outcome to be, creating a mathmatical equation to justify the end result, then feeding it into a computer. Good 'ole SAMMEC. Theirs required a lot more work.

Easier still...walk down a street in NYC or Brooklyn & count how many bars & restaurants have gone out of business in the last 2 years. It is quite impressive.

Well, at least they will know that we know and they can't hide behind their nasty lies anymore.  The truth will come out.

I'm sorry, but to actually believe it..... you would have to have a non-smoker in the mix. As an ex-smoker with lots of lung problems, I won't go to a restaurant with smokers in it. I can't breathe. I admit that I have become the worst ex-smoker of all.

Sure.  And Mayor BloomingIdiot said the smoking ban has INCREASED business.  He is full of it.  A lot of business's have closed and/or cut way back because of these senseless smoking bans the anti's have forced upon them.

That's fine and I am sorry for your troubles.

But this should be left up to the private business owner and his patrons.  If one place is too smoky for you, you should be able to go on down the street to a less smoky business.  What with the big smoke eaters the business's installed today, you really have to look to see if anyone is smoking, they are that good.

But I do not believe that the government and the nanny anti's should have been allowed to go in and possess a private business and force a smoking ban on them.

One leftist argument is if you don't like our new draconian rules .. leave. And in the last decade millions of Americans have left old America(the blue states), to the opportunity and increased freedom of new America(the red states), like Nevada.

There was a time I would have agreed with you. My complaint about cigarettes I guess has to do with consistency. If it was anything else, it would have been banned completely years ago. Money and addiction does strange things to people's common sense.

Great work David and Michael! Wonderful information to use the next time someone gives California as an example of how well smoking bans are working. You put so much time and effort into this report. Thank you!

For those who haven't yet read Michael's book, "Dissecting Antismokers' Brains" http://www.antibrains.com/ , it is also entertaining, well researched and packed with detailed information on the anti-smokers' crusade and how to fight them.

"California’s smoking ban probably contributed to its overall economic problems since the late 1990s beyond the direct impact of the contribution of lower bar and restaurant total revenues."

I had the temerity to write Governor Schwarzenegger and suggest that the State should allow 10% of the bars and restaurants to allow cigarette smoking, and that maybe a lottery system could be used to draw get the special licenses. I cited the loss of jobs and revenues as good reasons for modifying the no-smoking ban.

I got the expected "thank you for your interest" form letter.

Well, I don't consider it an addiction.  I smoke because I enjoy it.  I am not fat and I can't drink anymore.  I have to have ONE bad habit! heh!

I can't believe you are all for government control when you are a FReeper.  I just can't believe it.
