You are so right about North Carolina! The daffodils and the Carolina Jasmine are blooming here. The pansies too. Up in NH and MA they are freezing their you-know-whats off and they're having their 23rd snow storm of the season today.
uh, oh.....did I just hit post?
One this is for sure: North Dakota is our frontline for a Canadian invasion.
Who is Morgan Quitno, and why should I care??
I do see that aside from VA, one must scroll down to the mid-30's before a southern state can be found. Now who here honestly thinks MA is the 7th best place to live, and FL is 37th?? This article does make for some good comedy though. Oh, and I hope very much that everyone believes this excrement, and stays the hell out of the South!!
I see Minnesota is at #2. We don't want that news getting out. Next thing you know, EVERYBODY will be wanting to move up here...
Ok, so how come all the southern states are listed last??? There seems to be a bit of bias here. Who wants to put up with all that cold weather? That's one of the main reasons I left Colorado -- that, and the steady decline toward the political left and the disintegration in the quality of education.
Well, I don't live there anymore, and surveys like this just make me laugh at how well Mississippi has done at keeping outsiders away. We live in one of the high-ranking states, and it is a beautiful state, but the cost of living is skyrocketing. I do not see it as very livable for working class folks.
... and basically nothing to do. Most of the high ranked ones appear to be socialist state wanna be's.
" I've been from Portsmouth to Dixville Notch and have yet to find a decent burrito."
Gotta go to the "Beef N' Bun" in Franklin to get a good burrito.
Absolutely. I want more people to think of Texas as a bad place to live. We have too many Yankees here already.
(No offense meant to Northerners. I have no problem with the good kind of Yankees moving here -- the kind who come down here and "go native". I'm talking about the bad kind, who want to make Texas more like Boston or the Upper West Side.)
I'd rather have a library factor, "Right kind of Books in Libraries, No porn on Internet" instead of the number of books.....
Yes, you're right in assuming I'm in favor of local community standards.
i wonder if the FREE STATERS have anything to do w/ making New Hampshire #1
For example: I bought a house in Van Nuys 1 year ago. $380K for a 1100sq ft, 50 year old house that literally has never been updated. Galvanized pipes, roof falling apart, garage falling apart and on and on.
I moved to Utah, took less than a 10K pay cut (And Im still making good money) bought a BRAND SPANKING NEW 2500sq ft home that is just beautiful and has things in it I've never had before for 200K. The yard is also twice the size.
ON top of that, traffic here is non existent compared to Cali.
Why anybody would even consider living east of Nevada is beyond me. Glad they do, though; otherwise they'd be out here clotting the place up, complete with bizarre accents and foul tempers.
Ditto that!! Texas 45?!! Must've been a commie poll! :)
Freezing in the winter; mosquito infested in the summer; and overwhelmed by MASSholes.
Texas is the most livable state...in my books.
Minn is only nominally a Blue state. Red counties far outnumbered Blue, but the population is concentrated in the Blue. And we have plenty of minorities, even out here in the rural areas, and the largest community of Hmong in the U.S., among other things.
Politics had little to do with my comment.
forcryinoutloud...they've got flippin' NEW JERSEY as #8...
c'mon
Give me the Mediterranean climate of California every time.
