Wheeling police are investigating the slaying of two men found shot near a shopping center early Monday in a predominantly Russian neighborhood of the northwest suburb.
Police responding to a disturbance call about midnight found the bodies of Roman A. Drobetskiy, 34, and Arkadiy Stepankovskiy, 29, behind Garden Fresh Plaza in the 700 block of South Widgeon Drive, Deputy Chief John Stone said.
Stepankovskiy, who lived in Des Plaines with his wife and 5-year-old daughter, worked as a private security guard and ran two Russian martial arts schools. His wife, Ekaterina, said the couple had lived in the U.S. for 10 years.

Currently I don't want to delve into any speculation about who might be behind this terrible crime. I'm sure that some of the forum participants may immideately suggest "Russian Mafia" or whatever else. However, I prefer to avoid any speculation and see how official investigation unfolds. I'll try to keep you informed about any developments. According to the latest reports, it was not shooting as reported in the article, but a multiple stab wounds. Let's pray and hope that investigation will lead to the proper suspects and soon.
And again the lesson is taught, no matter how much M.A. you know, you can't fight bullets.
That's why you don't bring nunchucks to a gunfight.
If they "don't allow guns in Chicago", it means people do not carry them illegally ? Khepera, get a grip of the reality. In Chicago we have gangland shootings and murders as in any other large city. Plus the latest report (I put it in my comment below the article exceprt), it was a multiple stab wounds--not shooting.
He was joking since obviously criminals don't obey laws.

The expression 'hands of steel' is just hyperbole, but knives of steel are the real thing. I hope the martial arts teacher didn't make the mistake of over-estimating his ability to protect himself, as did that kick-boxing instructor from San Franscisco last year.

...without bullets of yer own!

Well--the post did not have any smileys ( like this -:) ) so I took it seriously. Again--sometimes I can't get certain jokes--I admit. I love jokes, but I think it is not a good time for joking when discussing a terrible crime.
You are new here (Welcome) but you will soon see that the vast majority of Freepers think most gun control laws are absurd since they will only be obeyed by the law-abiding and ignored by the criminal classes.
We also joke about everything including the most serious of matters but that does not mean we don't care.
